People Who Claim to be Vampires - WTF

Aaargh! Get me a wooden stake NOW. I read an interview with one of these freaks in The Metro, he came away with guff such as

"Drinking the blood of others really energies me"

Bullshit I say. He claims he and other 'vampires' get together to perform ritualistic drinking of the blood after having been tested for HIV and other blood carried diseases. This tosspot even has a silk-lined coffin which he and his equally fucked up girlfriend sleep in.

Fucking behave yourself - you are not a bat, you do not need to drink blood and your poor ma is probably despairing.

What makes one think they are a vampire? Do you know anybody with this deranged conviction? Have they yet discovered that garlic will give you at worst bad breath?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

TS: drinking each other's blood, expressed with the 'victim's consent vs. eating meat

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Generally, though, I think they're people who never got over The Lost Boys.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I saw this once on CSI.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

This chick I went to college with claimed to be a vampire. She had my dumb friend totally convinced. He claims he saw her fangs retract. Even asking him to consider what animals in the natural world have retractable teeth didn't convince him.
There was a nasty commercial jet crash near the campus around this time and she demanded he take her down there to watch. He did not appreciate it when I asked, "Oh, did she want a snack?"

Catty (Catty), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, this guy had his canines lengthened as well. Eh, why?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:30 (twenty-one years ago)

becaasue rather than becoming ineteresting through working hard on something he was passionate about, he chose to be interesting through breaking boring taboos, and trying to gross people out. Vampires are intersting/attractive because they hang out all night and sleep all day. He was trying to convince himself/you that he had a life.

lukey (Lukey G), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Drinking others blood is stupid, hello potential incurable diseases.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:49 (twenty-one years ago)

smee (smee), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I find this phenomenon absolutely fascinating. And it's not just because goth girls are kinky. Why isn't the idea of psychic vampirism addressed in modern film? I think we all know people we could describe as psychic vampires, feeding off the attention of others. Anyway, here's the classic modern text, 'The Vampire Codex' by Michelle Belanger:

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

'They're worms Michael'

I used to pretend to be some kind of wild cat when I was a kid, my lair was under the dining table. I had special powers. My name was Purrs the Power Cat.

Pure childish fantasy. If I regressed into Purrs the Power Cat right now and persuaded my friends to do the same, we would be reviled. And quite rightly so. It's not normal to sit under a dining table licking oneself, just as it's not normal to lie in a coffin thinking you're Count Dracula.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Let me get this straight, Rumpy. You once thought you were a cat?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Erm, yes? Don't we all?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i hadn't thought about lost boys for years. i loved that movie!

ummmm also with respect to the actual thread i think 'real' people who claim to be vampires are pretty sad and usually trying hard for shock value.

gem (trisk), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Have they yet discovered that garlic will give you at worst bad breath?

they sound like morons.. but vampires don't EAT garlic do they? aren't they repelled by it?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

smee (smee), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Garlic & mushrooms go together innit?

See! xpost.

smee (smee), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Geez, I'm not sure what's worst, vampiresblood fetishists, darling, or FURRIES ie what Rumpy is describing as Purrs the Power Cat. Yes. They exist too. I am serious. I can give good url of a specific "feline spirit"'s journal if you all want to go and throw interwebtacular rocks...

Starry (hello chickens), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Rumpy is a furry! Haha, what is Kev, is he Kev the Koala?

smee (smee), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Furries by a mile.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I was four ferfucksake!

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

That's no excuse.

That's the best sitename ever.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

This is on behalf of Kate, who is not here to do it herself:

MAGGOTS, MICHAEL! YOU'RE EATING MAGGOTS! HOW DO THEY TASTE?!?!?!

thank you and good night!

Catty (Catty), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

my maggot has no tongue

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 13:02 (twenty-one years ago)

No offence, Rumpy, it just seems hypocritical for a former furry to have a problem with vampires. You have the anti-vampire zeal of an ex-smoker.

The first girl I kissed was called Kat Black. I wonder if she was a furry too? I can't remember whether her tongue was rough.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

We blew it, man, we lost it!
Shut up!
We unraveled in the face of the enemy!
It's not our fault, they pulled a mindtrap on us, they opened their eyes and talked!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 12 October 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't a furry! I didn't have fur!

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

My name was Purrs the Power Cat.

I mean, not only were you a furry, you were a superfurry! You had powers!

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

They were pretty limited though...

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)
