I just got a PS2! (I'm way behind the curve on this one). Now I need games, lots of them. Where do I start. There are so many out there I don't know what to get.

standard suggestions:

Driving/Shoot'em up: GTA 3 or Vice City, Simpsons Hit & Run

hack/slash/beat-em-up/action: Dynasty Warriors 3 or 4

RPG: any Final Fantasy, DARK CLOUD 2!!

Fighter: Tekken 4, Soul Calibur

and your random japanese fun: Ico, Rez, KATAMARI DAMACY

i need to play the 3rd Onimusha game, just to see if they fucked up in their incorporation of Jean Reno into the game...

It's pretty good. I just finished it. My only complaints are that there is a lot of character switching and transporting through time which unfortunately means that you have to play as the female police office, who is a poorly developed character, as female video game characters tend to be. Also, Jean Reno has a son who makes for some horrible cut scenes. Other than that, it's pretty on par with the other games. I like it better than 2, I think.

what are the language options? do they have japanese, or is everything shittily dubbed into english?

There is one language track unfortunately. It is mostly English, with bits ofsubtitled Japanese and French. I read that the game was too big and there was no room on the disc for Japanese.

i was playing Half-Life again till i got to the Xen section, where i stopped thanks to my jumpsuit apparently not wanting to jump...

Ken C so on the money he cant see it on account of it is under his foot.
virtua tennis 2 lots of fun for a score.
any of the need 4 speed games they kick gran tourismo's overly complex ass. especially underground.
NFL street is quite good
kings of the ring is sposed to be wkd as well but I aint played it.
Pete B swears by SSX 2 but I recon its an abreviation of seriously sux.
