Pee uw wee
That stinks so good!

Krill O'Really, Friday, 15 October 2004 06:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm afraid you've misunderstood the rule about who/whom, D0oD0o>. "Who" replaces the subject, i.e. he/she, while "whom" replaces the object, i.e. him/her. He/she farted, therefore you use "who". "Whom" would be used where it replaces the object of a verb, i.e. "Whom does she blame?" (She blames him). I hope this is clearer now.

whom did this fart originate from?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 15 October 2004 07:48 (twenty-one years ago)

It's rather inelegant to finish a sentence with a preposition, Ken, unless it's part of a phrasal verb.

the one who said the ryme did the crime

lukey (Lukey G), Friday, 15 October 2004 07:51 (twenty-one years ago)

whenever i see the word "whom" used inappropriately it reminds me of that scene in dead poet's society when the student is made to repeat "to whom brother" over and over again. i was just saying it out loud in my office and my workmates laughed at me.

nothing to you holds significance

from whom did this fart originate?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 15 October 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe the question means that someone here is the product of a fart, and the questioner wants to know whom?

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 15 October 2004 11:38 (twenty-one years ago)

shouldn't that be "Whom was farted"?

ken c (ken c), Friday, 15 October 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I did fart verily thus.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Friday, 15 October 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Only if you can fart "to" someone. Poor grammar pains me.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

sometimes i like to pretend i am very small and warm (ex machina), Friday, 15 October 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

You can't say "Whom was farted" - the subject is still in the nominative case even though the voice is passive

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 15 October 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I have never enjoyed the smell of a fart, though some friends report that they have. I have on occasion found my BO a little sexy, though.
