OK Here's a question about Transformers

You know how they had human friends who sometimes rode in the autobots when they were in car form? Well, what happened to them if they were inside the car when the robot transformed. I remember seeing a few episodes where this would happen and then they'd just show the guy sitting outside somewhere. What gives? Continuity problem?

I used to worry about this. A lot.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i think i remember seeing Jet-/Skyfire holding a guy in his hand whilst flying, Minmei-style

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe the transforming noises drowned out the guys screams & moist-pulpy crushing

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it would be funny to see one of them caught inside the robots body at a funny angle!

My little brothers had Transformers, but I'm of the Micronaut generation... LESS than meets the eye.

usually they would somehow levitate out of it. see the beginning of the transformers movies for evidence of this.

ryan (ryan), Friday, 15 October 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I was always much more disturbed by how certain robots would shrink like Soundwave and Megatron. Optimus Prime never used his rig much either.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i liked the fact that his rig would basically come out of nowhere when he transformed. (i think there is a subtext however with OP, as a leader he rarely transforms, you will notice that Megatron rarely did either, i think it is a robot class issue)

ryan (ryan), Friday, 15 October 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

gobots vs. the rocklords was my first ever cinema experience.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 16 October 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm always amused by how GI Joe and Cobra fought with laser beams and every time a plane exploded there was always a parachute.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 16 October 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Always.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 16 October 2004 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Shitty aim, too. Thousands and thousands of rounds of (laser?) ammunition, and nobody ever gets hurt.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Saturday, 16 October 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

why the fuck did megatron - when he did transform - always go to starscream. starscream was trying to undermine him the whole time. and what's worse is that starscream never took advantage of that time to kill megatron. he probably coulda done it.

AaronK (AaronK), Saturday, 16 October 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

ya robot politics are a bitch. i hated that subject at school

darragh.mac (darragh.mac), Saturday, 16 October 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I always imagined this:

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 16 October 2004 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

wait, howcum the guy jumping out isn't shown getting in?

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Saturday, 16 October 2004 03:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Could've been in one of the frames I cut.

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 16 October 2004 03:29 (twenty-one years ago)

the gif needs the sound effect(s)

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Saturday, 16 October 2004 05:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I used to worry about the dudes who were driving about in Bumblebee...like why? Sideswipe is a much better car after all. And no one ever drove Mirage, a race car!!!

Megatron is just the worst villian ever, one time Starscream had a clear shot at a bunch of Autobots in a net, but Megatron stopped him...citing his bigger plan or something. Even Soundwave looked a little bemused. Let's face it Megatron only really got his shit together in the movie.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

what was his bigger plan? i think that's great. think of the irony! they were saved by a GREATER EVIL!

all great villians are aesthetes realy.

ryan (ryan), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the bigger plan involved syphoning all the energy from the earth's core to power the space bridge, or it might have been to cause an Earthquake to wipe out the Ark.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the Clerks cartoon.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Bumblebee was normally seen letting people (Spike and Sparkplug) out (check 'More Than Meets The Eye' pt. 2).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Saturday, 16 October 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

i was always confused as to how megatron could transform from being a 10-15 ft. tall robot into a little laser gun. he would have to lose a lot of bodymass really quickly. not to mention regain it when he transformed back.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 16 October 2004 17:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah that was always a big mystery. i guess part of the explanation could be that he is essentially hollow. or magic.

i liked the toy version where he would transform into a giant handgun that no other toy was large enough to wield except maybe destructacon (sp?). (reminds me that i always wished the dinobots, who are the pinnacle of western culture, could join together to make a giant dinobot)

the movie self-consciously fixes this i think because the new megatron (what's his new name?) becomes a cannon. much more sensible.

ah yes, true. plus with the voice of leonard nimoy!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 16 October 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

transformers the movie was 100000000x greater than any single episode. orson wells playing fucking unicron.

galvatron was the new megatron.

AaronK (AaronK), Sunday, 17 October 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, the moment where optimus prime dies....*sniff sniff*

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved the incompetence of Ultra Magnus. He's the star of the movie really.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, rodimus prime was a total dud. he was all formal and high and mighty without any of the old man-type of honorablitiy that optimus prime had. ultra magnus was really a tragic figure. trying to open the matrix and stuff.

YOU GAHT THE TOUCH!

AaronK (AaronK), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

YOU GOT THE POWAAAHHHH

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 17 October 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)
