Crude prison pointilism or crafty commercial creatures?

(Finding a Boris Vallejo that's appropriate for the office was quite a chore, BTW)

(And show us an example to prove your preference.)

I KNEW this would be andy.

I do know the planetary artists, I'm often forced to inhale their noxious fumes on Market & Telegraph. The pictures they paint remind me of the murals at my favorite childhood video arcade, Starbase One.

there was a courrier at the old firm I used to work for in p@lo alto who had a trunkload of that galactic crap. he was giving most of it away.

Market & Telegraph, eh? hmmmmm....

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 18 October 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Market & Telegraph, respectively. Anyone that paints with a lazy susan SHOULD be working sidewalks, in my humble opinion.

This was painted on an Impala, and would therefore seem to illustrate a close relationship between lowrider & fantasy... I need to get out more.

what about van art? you know, with the bubble mini windows and the side and back panel wizard spraypaint? same stuff, right. serious 1975-85s suburb culture.(for me at least) the guys across the street from me had z-28s with blue and white lightning wizard-with-crystal ball flames.

then there were the redneck/heavy metal st0ner vans with the wide mouth bass and fishing line or white tigers, crazy fun

kephm, Monday, 18 October 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, it's just me then.

Van art combines the best of both: the space barbarians and naked chicks of fantasy art with the airbrushing-onto-your-car of lowrider art. It seems to be dying out. Can't we get an NEA grant to keep this important folk art going?

Nemo (JND), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

serious, tell the right wing folks they can have jesus painted onto a van too. i remember a van from the old neighborhood with 'last dinner' 'final judgement' scenes

I think all Americans can get behind this.

Nemo (JND), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Especially if it is airbrushed onto a custom van.

Nemo (JND), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)
