How are you getting out the vote on election day?

Or slightly before, I guess.
I've been thinking of swallowing every bit of my pride and walking around with a bullhorn making sure everyone knows that they can register to vote on the day of the election in Minnesota and handing out cards printed with the address of the website where they can look up their polling place.

What are some other ideas?

My ballot, like all Oregonians', has already arrived. Getting out the vote is a little different here, but at least we have a few weeks to do it.

Up to now I have been making phone calls to identify voters who say they will vote for Kerry. Because I am in Oregon and the mail ballots have already been sent, I will spend the next two weeks making phone calls to those same Kerry voters asking them to mark their ballots and send them in.

I figure I can make roughly 35-40 calls during each hour I work the phones. Of these, I'll get a real person a bit less than half the time. I plan to be very nice and very encouraging, with sugar on top. I've scheduled myself for about 8 hours of phoning, over three different days. Some people do a lot more, but I am content to this much.

Once again, I encourage anyone who shudders at the thought of 4 more years of BushCo to get involved in more than voting - volunteer a few hours on election day. It feels right. It is right. It does help.

I also spent most of my weekend doing data entry to defeat Bush. That was pretty nice.

But it doesn't directly get out the vote, to be sure.

I'm also volunteering with ACT. i stood on the corner of a busy intersection(Burnside & MLK) in a luchador mask n' cape just holding signs reminding people to vote early. i also tried to call some folks, got in touch with mebbe two or three, and found out that the phone numbers attached to voter reg info tend to be not worth a damn.

also, i'm trying to get a job with ACT in the short term, too, doing office stuff and/or tromping around town & canvassing.
