I feel like we have a thread about this already, but my rubbish search skills couldn't find it. Anyway, I'm off to the US for the first time in ages this week, and so far my shopping list reads:

ipod
melatonin
big jar of ibuprofen

What do you always bring back?

Cynthia Nixon Now More Than Ever (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 09:48 (twenty-one years ago)

You can get Oreos in Exeter Sainsburys. I've bought them before and crushed them up to put on vanilla cheesecake.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Karo syrup.

Actually I used to get this years ago at the Camden Safeway, but haven't found it since.

It's not that bad, these days. You can get an OK cheap pair for about £20. Even nice ones aren't too bad if you shop around. I just got some lovely CK ones in TK Maxx for £30.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

no, they are too expensive in coffee republic - imagine going to the usa and paying $1 for 4 digestive biscuits.

marianna, Tuesday, 19 October 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

It would be a silly reason to go.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

and $3 for a cup of coffee isn't? 8)

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 19 October 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

What are you doing in Coffee Republic in the first place - go to the nearest pub forthwith!

So with the exchange rate, it's exactly the same price. I did not know that. Capital is the great equalizer.
