I'm going to Retire in Mexico.

San Miguel de Allende or maybe Guadalajara. I'm going to wear a captain's hat and a colorful silk scarf and drink like 40 beers a day.

(I just received my Social Security statement, and based on my projected monthly payments at 60, I'll HAVE to live in Mexico.)

Where will you retire?

Budapest

Where will I retire, or where would I like to retire? Because I'll probably end up on a council estate in Dundee until social services put me in an old folks home where I die. I quite like the sound of that captain's hat, Andy, and Mexico would be nice, but I think I would prefer the mediterranean somewhere. White bricked buildings in the sun, going fishing in relatively shallow waters on a clean white boat. Drinking red wine while I enjoy my days catch, painting and writing a little. Of course, that is cliched as hell, but that's part of the charm, and the impossibility.

amsterdam, because holland cares about fair housing, support for the arts, and other liberal issues that america thumbs its nose at.

Portuguese synagogue? WTF?

Of course, wine in Mexico is not all that brilliant, but hopefully they'll have turned Palenque into a Beverages & More by then.

Budapest because it has the hotel Astoria, a former headquarters to both the Gestapo and the Stasi. I will be found slumped over a chair every day in the delightful cafe, dressed in militaristic garb, and writing my juicy memoirs.

I wore one of those nice shower cap things and was beaten by a burly Budapesti (in a massage-type situation).
