Sorry if that seems insensitive, but I honestly thought he had passed on. Hope I didn't jinx him.

Karl Malden to receive special honour from Eugene O’Neill Theater Center
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Karl Malden, the gruff, fatherly character actor who won an Academy Award for A Streetcar Named Desire, will receive a special honour from the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut for his lifetime of stage work.
Malden, 92, will join previous honourees including Jason Robards, Brian Dennehy, Zoe Caldwell, Edward Albee and August Wilson when he collects the award at a Beverly Hills luncheon on Nov. 11.
The Monte Cristo Award is named after O’Neill’s boyhood home in Connecticut, the Monte Cristo cottage, which was the setting for the dramas Long Day’s Journey Into Night and Ah, Wilderness.
“How fortunate can you get?” Malden said Monday. “O’Neill was one of the top writers in the country. You couldn’t get any luckier than to be in one of his plays. I was in one of them — Desire Under the Elms. It’s a memorable part of my career.”
The honouree is chosen by the theatre for exemplifying “the excellence and pioneering spirit” of the Nobel Prize-winning playwright.
The award will be presented to Malden by Michael Douglas, who co-starred with him on the 1970s crime TV show The Streets of San Francisco.
Malden’s other screen credits include On the Waterfront, Birdman of Alcatraz, Patton, Gypsy and One-Eyed Jacks.

He's 92! He's in my FAVORITE western, "One Eyed Jacks" with Brando, a tale of... REVENGE, of course. I've always had a lot of respect for old Karl.

Love all this detail:

He was born Mladen Sekulovich in Chicago on March 22, 1912, the son of an immigrant mother from the nation that later became Czechoslovakia and a Serbian father, who delivered milk for 38 years.

Malden spoke little English until after his family moved from their Serbian enclave in Chicago to the steel-mill community of Gary, Ind., when he was 5.

Malden's father was a theater lover who staged Serbian plays in the church and in Serbian patriotic organizations in Gary. As a teenager, Malden played heavies -- usually Turks, complete with a big, black mustache -- in his father's productions.

What are the odds against Gary, Indiana producing such showbiz giants - and losing two of 'em within a week?

Whenever he was in a film, Malden would push for his own family name, Sekulovich, to be somehow included in is. See, for instance, Fred Gwynne's character in On The Waterfront. I always liked that about the guy.
