Early voting thread

I decided to stand in line today instead of waiting to see if I'd get out of class early enough on the second.

Really depressing ballot overall. I don't think I saw a single Green on it, very few Libertarians, so my usual practice of voting third-party uber alles was out the window. I swallowed my pride and voted for Kerry and a bunch of Texas Democrats.

I got to cast my first vote that might matter (not voting for a surefire loser) against the new Cowboys stadium. I don't know how such a large section of this city can believe the Jerry Jones-backed study that claims $7 BILLION in benefits over the next thirty years. A miracle stadium, I guess. Oh well, by the time it's built and killing the city, I should be long gone, suckas.

I voted today in los angeles using those diebold machines. theres some precints in la county that use these machines that anyone in the county can use to vote on. kinda convenient and it allows you to avoid the madness of nov. 2.

fuck all of these california initiatives btw. I voted no on a solid majority of them just because I dont know what the fuck they do. Dont we have a state legistlature thats supposed to address these kinds of things? I really doubt the public's ability to effectively legislate these proposals that get summed up in about 3 sentences.

I don't think the electronic machines I used were Diebold, but they were nice. A scroll-wheel is used to go through items and select, no worries about the angle of the touch-screen or clicking the wrong place (esp. good because the average age of the crowd when I voted was 70+).

fifteen years pass...

NYC now has early voting!

Really excited that early vote in NYC starts tomorrow.

Strongly support Ballot Questions #1 (Ranked Choice Voting) and #2 (CCRB Reform).

#2 strengthens police oversight & is opposed by the PBA bc it reduces the power of the Police Commissioner, which is all you need to know.
