For shame...

Athletes by nature are stupid people.

harold, Monday, 25 October 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Athletes by nature are conservative because they (a) compete for their country; (b) have pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps with no help from Goddam Pinko Welfare so it's no surprise that they veer to the Right.

That having been said, I have never heard of anyone on this list except for Jack Nicklaus and Mary Lou Retton, so that probably says a lot.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 25 October 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't post this to bash athletes.

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Athletes are also rich and like Republicans who help them keep their money. And, as I said before, they are generally not the sharpest tools in the shed, and therefore they tend to fall for the lies and misdeeds of the Bush administration.

"By nature??" All 24 of them!

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

My grandad was a top sprinter and a communist. I would love to know if any of the US paralympic team would sign a letter like this (or if anyone invited them to).

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 25 October 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

None of my relatives would sign it! Of course, nobody in my family got rich playing sports.

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I like how Roger Staubach's signature is just Roger.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 25 October 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Say it ain't so, Ernie!

briania (briania), Monday, 25 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Karl Malone? sheeet

lukey (Lukey G), Monday, 25 October 2004 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The Mailman should be pro-big government, right?

briania (briania), Monday, 25 October 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

He's always been a right-winger. That was one name I expected to find there.

But perky little gymnasts for Bush! The shame!

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Ernie Banks is the only name I'm surprised or disappointed to see there. What's truly amazing is that the world keeps offering up new reasons to dislike John Elway and Mary Lou Retton.

Nemo (JND), Monday, 25 October 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

What's funny is how pathetic that list is.

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Mary Lou Retton how could you do this to me!

sometimes i like to pretend i am very small and warm (ex machina), Monday, 25 October 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I just opened my MLR Wheaties box and scattered the crumbs in the wind.

Also the Kerri Strugg posters have come down from my wall.

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 25 October 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

briania you are a treat.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Monday, 25 October 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

carlos beltran say it ain't so!

ryan (ryan), Monday, 25 October 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess that Bush will win 24-0 then.

identity theftor (deangulberry), Monday, 25 October 2004 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

That's it. The Cubs should keep Grudzielanek and get rid of Walker. I've made up my mind.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 25 October 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Say it ain't so, Natalie Golda, Bronze Medalist in Water Polo!

k3rry (dymaxia), Monday, 25 October 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Bush is getting many NBA votes. My brothers saw a streetball game with Baron Davis, and he said in an interview that the only thing he's scared of is George Bush. OTOH, you'd probably get in more shit for signing a pro-Kerry letter.

Sympatico (shmuel), Monday, 25 October 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

bob feller is one that is NOT surprising ... motherfucker was a stone racist back when jackie robinson broke into the big leagues.

i'm not surprised about many of the names on the list ... but i am kinda disappointed that john elway is one of these fools on the list.
