Question About Upgrading Moveable Type

i currently run moveable type 2.661 on herjazz.org but am considering an upgrade to its newest version.

currently on the site there are 2 separate blogs, with separate users. does anyone know if upgrading to 3.121 will block one of the users or will it let both of us continue using MT as usual?

i have not upgraded MT because my understanding was that the 3.0 release was buggy AND did not allow for multiple users, at least on a free level.

My understanding is also that it would only allow a single user; I'm unsure whether it would block all but one of your users, or if it would just refuse to upgrade itself to the free version of 3.x.

I'm never, ever going to pay for Movable Type, because I didn't like the way they introduced the charges. And there *are* open-source alternatives.

(although, having said that, it's immaterial at the moment because I don't host my blog myself.)

caitlin, thanks but thats exactly what i was trying to figure out -- if the upgrade would affect the current users. im not paying 70$ for one more person. [i have no plans on adding other users, either.] i tend to purchase my software but for MT, eff it.

This is explained right on the front of their licensing page.

"You can download a fully functional, but unsupported version of Movable Type for free. You're limited to 1 author and 3 weblogs."

no, that DOESNT answer my question and trust me, i've scoured their website for information. please re-read my original question -- im asking if upgrading will affect my current MT configuration that includes 2 weblogs and 2 users.

and it seems ive answered my own question: there is nothing i can do. i must suck it up and buy additional licenses if i want my other user to remain active.
