Resistance is futile! Vote Kerry!

From a Land of Grass Without Mirrors (AaronHz), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 04:10 (twenty years ago)

Huddle for warmth! Hide. Hide from the threads.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 04:15 (twenty years ago)

i quite like the idea of a 'bunker' thread. Seems cozy somehow.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 04:20 (twenty years ago)

yes, huddle up and watch Doris Day movies instead of election returns.
Pass the popcorn.

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 04:20 (twenty years ago)

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 04:59 (twenty years ago)

You know, Doris Day is from Ohio. I wonder if --------- |||

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 05:01 (twenty years ago)

Ok, I'm going out to vote then I'm re-entering the bunker until it's over. I have several pillows and Turner Classic Movies, I've got TiVo and I'm ready to use it; I will be blissfully immersed in pop culture. I will not see a projection, a poll, a hysterical convention floor, a lawyer, a commentator, or an achor. I hereby take back my mind from the madness!

Come on in, it's warm and safe. They can't get you in here.

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:14 (twenty years ago)

Pls may I come in & hide?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:36 (twenty years ago)

yes, here, have a comfy chair and pillows. *passes the popcorn*.
We have kittens over there, too!
Can you hold down the fort till I get back?

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:39 (twenty years ago)

Certainly!! *munch* 'here kitty'

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:42 (twenty years ago)

Dibs on the cuddles!

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago)

awww cwute kitties!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:49 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to Argos after work instead of thinking about politics. Protect me baby Jesus.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:51 (twenty years ago)

But after that can I cuddle kittens in the bunker too?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:52 (twenty years ago)

I've got a nasty feelin' someone will try to smoke us out....

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Screw them, I'm here til Friday! (except that I have to leave now!) *cries* bye kitties!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Ok I survived the voting. I'm back, making lunch. All TiVo'd up.

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 20:12 (twenty years ago)

Hiding is successful so far.

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 21:37 (twenty years ago)

OK I tried the election thread, now I am hiding again.

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 04:22 (twenty years ago)

Hey! me too!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:27 (twenty years ago)

I'm hiding today also! I have enough to worry me, and have decided not to pay attention to the election until at least 6pm tonight.

sgs (sgs), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:29 (twenty years ago)

i tried hiding in the gta thread but it was pretty lonely, and cold. hi guys.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:32 (twenty years ago)

This thread keeps mentioning the election. Like I did just now.
Anyone see any good films recently?

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:35 (twenty years ago)

i am hiding in here cos I am worrying about my kitties who are having operations today. :-(

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:38 (twenty years ago)

watched a film called Darkcity, which comes off as 'The Matrix' meets 'Hercule Poirot' or something.

Just got full box set of Monty Python films, including 'and now for something completely different' selection from the original show. For only £15 from Amazon.

xpost, good luck to the kitties!

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:39 (twenty years ago)

Dark City - OMG Keifer...Suther-land's...per-FORM...ance in that film. Hilarious.

Love to the operational kittens.

The digital freeview box I got last night is rubbish. Hoping to sort it out.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:42 (twenty years ago)

Good luck kitties.

I'm trying to decide if I really do want the Box of Delights on DVD, even though I already said I did on another thread. I meant it at the time, but will I ever watch it?

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:24 (twenty years ago)

What is the Box of Delights?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:27 (twenty years ago)

classic kids telly

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:30 (twenty years ago)

Dark City = my first exposure to Rufus Sewell. Saw it in a theater full of heckling teens. They did not spare Kiefer's impediments.

Good luck kitties! are they having spay/neuter operations? yeurgh.

I bought the second issue of a comic I really like yesterday: Modern Toss. It's great! I plan to read it on the way to my job interview.

sgs (sgs), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:32 (twenty years ago)

Good luck kitties! are they having spay/neuter operations? yeurgh.
yep, yeurgh indeed!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:41 (twenty years ago)

I hate kitties.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Well they probably hate you!
What happened to Dibs on the cuddles! ?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 12:57 (twenty years ago)

Well, these are fantasy kitties. I'm much more comfortable with them. And my God, did you wiretap my uni house last year - that retort is burningly familiar.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:02 (twenty years ago)

I just happen to like cats & I'm concerned about my 2 kittens that are at the vets today.
And my God, did you wiretap my uni house last year - that retort is burningly familiar.
Yeah sorry that response was immature, but it was meant to be funny FFS!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:12 (twenty years ago)

so these are *real* kitties, as opposed to virtual ones?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:13 (twenty years ago)

Er yeah!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:14 (twenty years ago)

aw i miss that Virtual Cat game that used to be on the PC so much!!!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:18 (twenty years ago)

P, I smiled!

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:26 (twenty years ago)

I'm back. It's safer in here.

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 4 November 2004 00:13 (twenty years ago)

Tep can't find me.

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 4 November 2004 00:14 (twenty years ago)

Christ Almighty there's way too many election threads.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 November 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago)

Aint that the truth!!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:40 (twenty years ago)

how are the cats?

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:41 (twenty years ago)

They are good thanks! They were pretty pissed off when we picked them up & when we got home & let them out of their carry cases they were a bit wobbly, but within an hour they were chasing about! bless them!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:43 (twenty years ago)

I'm hiding today too I think. I woke up with a headache.

I think it's cute when kittens stagger...although it's not for a cute reason really. I suppose drunkenness would be a cuter reason.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:46 (twenty years ago)

They were very cuddly when we got home, which is always cute!
I am in fear of ILX today, each thread I go on seems to be turning nasty. Not down to me though I am sure!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:48 (twenty years ago)

Aww. I don't think I'd have forgotten that quickly.

xpost

My flatmates keep leaving the heating on in the morning and it stops me waking up properly, so I'm groggy for more prosaic reasons.

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:51 (twenty years ago)

But are you as cute a an ickle wobbly-leggied kitten? If not, talk to the hand, buster.

I feel better today and have realised that Shrubya doesn't mean instant death. Just slightly delayed death.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:56 (twenty years ago)

How's the new place Liz?

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 09:58 (twenty years ago)

It ROCKS, dude. Mulled wine housewarming soiree details TBA. Whee living room fun! No more mentalistic housemates! Apart from Robster, that is.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 4 November 2004 10:00 (twenty years ago)

So you found a new place then? Man I miss out on loads! Congrats & all that!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 10:07 (twenty years ago)

glad to hear it :)

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 10:08 (twenty years ago)

aargh I've got to hide again argh!

My blood pressure is up.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Man, I wonder if I just revive a load of random threads all of the election ones will just disappear.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 12:55 (twenty years ago)

*deep breaths*
*deep breaths*
I think I'll make myself a PB&J sandwich. Then maybe go to the gym. Then maybe buy myself some new shoes.

I have to say that idea's crossed my mind too, Pink.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 12:56 (twenty years ago)

Ooh shoes, any ideas which ones you might go for?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 12:59 (twenty years ago)

well I need nice boots. And there's a shoe store on the way into putney that I pass all the time, pausing to press my nose against the display window, but I never go in. They have a lot of boots. There's always the risk that they won't have my size though.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:02 (twenty years ago)

don't be so defeatist, they will have your size. you just gotta say 'they will have my size, they will have my size' over & over again! ;-)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:05 (twenty years ago)

sgs and liz (and pink) do you guys have plans for tomorrow?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:05 (twenty years ago)

if not you guys fancy coming round for dinner? (bring spouses)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:17 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for the mention Ken! :-)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:26 (twenty years ago)

Oh Ken! That would be splendid! Unless Bolton's Ghost In The Shell viewing is tomorrow - will check.

NB he's not my spouse damn your eyes.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:38 (twenty years ago)

it's not just a mention! you're invited!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Haha, cheers dude!

Liz - we're having a pink day at work & i was wondering if you had any thoughts (or recipes) on what I could make.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:52 (twenty years ago)

a panther cake!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:53 (twenty years ago)

Ooh yeah!! (although I fear my culinary skills are somewhat limited!)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 13:55 (twenty years ago)

I am going to treat myself to a day spa visit for the first time in my life. I am also watching no news for a week.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:31 (twenty years ago)

That will be lovely teeny!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:38 (twenty years ago)

also more time to ilx now! hurrah!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:41 (twenty years ago)

Has everything settled down after the move?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:42 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I'm fine now, the house still needs a few things but it's a totally wonderful apartment that we're in.

t/s: 30-minute vs 60-minute vs 90-minute massage. Doesn't 60 seem like overkill?

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:43 (twenty years ago)

If it's an all over body massage I'd be inclined to go for 60 minutes. That said, that's a hell of a long time. Massages rule so much though & no matter how long you get you always want more.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:46 (twenty years ago)

is it that fab industrial-looking place you posted a photo of?

90 wouldn't be overkill, I don't think, right now.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:47 (twenty years ago)

thanks for the advice seeing as I'm a first-timer and all. I really wish I had a xan@x to take before I went just for real fucking overkill. Yeah, this is where I'm living, it's a dream come true:

http://loftworks-stl.com/315_Lofts/images/315Living.jpg

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:51 (twenty years ago)

nb: my apartment still has my ratty old furniture though.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:52 (twenty years ago)

wow. that looks amazing! beautiful windows.

sgs (sgs), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:53 (twenty years ago)

It makes it easy to count my blessings and not watch the news. :)

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Teeny that looks so gorgeous!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 4 November 2004 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Cor! Beautiful.

Pink - RASPBERRY VODKA JELLY SHOTS. Or, if booze not allowed, make pink fairy cakes and decorate them with Barbie sprinkles (I saw these in Sainsbury's the other day, OMG). This is dead easy with a little food colouring. Actually, you could still make cheesy little jellies with dolly mixtures or something suspended in them. I mean, a pink food day is crying out for this stuff, yes? Sophistication can kiss my shiny metal butt.
