This is the thread where I predict Bush is going to invade Cuba and at some point over the next four years we see if I'm right...

I bet anyway.

he won't need to, anymore. Castro fractured one of his last legs, didn't he?

we should have an ILX sweepstakes.

I'd guess Castro will pass on before then and things will revert to the way they were before. Like the transition Spain made to a democracy after Franco died.

The ILX Dead Pool: Heads of State Special Edition

Who first: Castro, Arafat, or Rainier (Monaco)?

BD OTM - far easier to just buy Cuba off after waiting Castro out. Where WILL the U.S. invade, though?

north korea? iran?

I don't think the US will invade anywhere. We only invaded Iraq because the Bushes had it in for the Husseins. It really didn't have much to do with weapon programs or national security.

not north korea. they can actually fight back some.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 18:47 (twenty years ago)

well yes, but maybe it is the end times, mookieproof.

I actually think (hope?) dave is right. I don't think Bush will necessarily follow the calls of the nutty neo-cons to continue a crusade through the Middle East. But if he hears more voices from God, all bets are off.

If Bush invades Iran or N Korea then it's gonna get nasty. Both countries can retaliate and then some. Plus, he's gonna need to enlist a draft - I doubt the US has the troops to go at it alone. Cuba seems the safest bet. A few ground troops and an air attack and Castro is gone. I hope things do not go back to capitalism after Castro dies, it would be a huge shame.

Warmongering Will, Wednesday, 3 November 2004 18:52 (twenty years ago)

When Castro dies, Cuba will have some trouble

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 18:54 (twenty years ago)

US Army is problably in the weakest state in 20 years beacouse they are fixed into Iraq, so Bush doesn`t have any possibility to attack any country before the troops would be pulled aout from Iraq.
