I`ve heard rumours that US neocons are planning change US election laws and conditions in states and it would be very difficult for Democrats to win in 2008. Is it possible?

Anything is possible if you put your mind (and a lot of money) to it!

Yes, it's probable. No use now. Might as well give it up. They got prescriptions now.

Yes, your vague scenario is possible.

Like the Congressional redistricting in Texas? I say count on it happening.

Basically they can plan whatever the hell they want. But I think you'll be surprised at how they probably won't be able to do it.

If nominated I will not run (that's Dan's job).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 23:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I can get behind that. Has a campaign ever come unstuck due to the candidate's propensity for toilet humour?

The Midnight ROFFLEr (haitch), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes - Iva Stonker's 1908 campaign went down the toilet.

Rigging election laws against your opponents has been a long-hallowed tradition in the USA. The 'Good Government' movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century fought some very tough battles over the worst of this stuff, but try getting a third party candidate on the ballot in about half of the states today and you'll see that the tradition lives on and is full of vigor and vitality.

In fact, many of the current battles in politics seem to be throwbacks to the late nineteenth century. Ack! We are regressing!
