I just took one from Stornoway to Ullapool - it was choppy as hell and people were getting sick.. Also, kids were running around all over.

Still it was a big fucking boat & once we got into the sound, it was a great trip.

european ferry music

You mean that bit in Roxy Music's "Song For Europe" when Bryan starts burbling away in Franglais?

Ferry leaving Copenhagen for Oslo played a rousing Sibelius-style tune over the PA as we pulled out of port. Wonderful.

"Zombie Nation" - Kernkraft 400
"Electric Avenue" remix
"Common People" remix
other assorted woozy dance paraphernalia, somehow tooth-grindingly appropriate for a 2:30am ferry trip

I also met a Dutch/Nigerian ex-con (to hear him tell it) on the run with his blonde German girlfriend! "I can't go to the US. No. I have too much crimes in my past." They asked to sit at my table, this is out of like 50 tables in the bar, 40 of which were unoccupied. He said he was very Christian and that it was something he and his girlfriend argued about. She said her parents didn't know where they were. And the bar played "Short-Dick Man" by Gillette.

eighteen years pass...

cons: we are several hours delayed due to weather (nb it is as still as a botox smile out there), comms have been dreadful and the priority boarding was ignored, meaning a nine deck march up to the lounge (yes first world problems but the fuckers charged a first world upgrade fee for it tbf)

also our car started not starting last night at 6pm so we are now utterly reliant on a disconcertingly flat usb charge jump kit to get us off this thing again in six hours

on a related note, and somewhat confusingly for a ferry between ireland and the uk, the plug sockets are all two pin but i raised an already startled eyebrow at the suggestion i would myself go back down to deck 5 for an adaptor and one magically and sweatily appeared. the jungfella in question doesnt even appreciate how lucky he is that it wasnt the wife he said it to or this would be a coffin ship by now

pros: no music so far, lounge is great (unlimited pastries and sandwiches and hot chocolate), bar looked surprisingly promising when we passed through earlier and seeing as my car doesnt fucking work im as well to start drinking right
