I've had my Zippo for about 3 years and it hasnt worked for the past 2 and a half. I keep the flint, cotton, gas and wick in good nick so why does it never work? Any other lexors had this problem and if so did you resolve it? Why can't i be cool?

I left mine in the back of a taxi.

no problems, since.

Can't you send back broken zippos like free?

state the nature of the problem, first.

The S.O.B. just doesn't light. I see the sparks but it never catches alight.

Disposable lighters are in every functional way superior.

I use magic.

When do you not use magic?

If you are seeing the sparks, but there is no ignition, then the fuel, for one reason or another, isn't getting through, or the fuel itself is lame. I'd try a new wick first.

Spoken as a quaisi-expert, but haven't owned a Zippo in years.

I used to have an enormous one. (The size of a hardcover book)
The problem wasn't getting it to light: It was putting the damn thing out.

Why would you need a zippo so large?

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Sunday, 7 November 2004 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim is secretly the Iron Giant (that's why he lives up so close to the Canadian border, see).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 November 2004 04:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, the plan was to use it as a tombstone. I have no idea how I came to own such a behemoth.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 7 November 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously? You got it that long ago?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 November 2004 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I "inherited" (ie took) my grandfather's zippo collection. They all still work after 40-50 years. The best one (which may not actually be zippo) was a Black Label beer can with a lighter stuck in it.. But what makes it particularly great is that it was sold as a fundraising project for Junior Achievement.

I got my bandmates names all etched on mine at one point and it became sort-of like the Stanley Cup, travelin' about everywhere. I think it made it as far west as the Pacific. Could be that it too was "inherited", as you say, Dave.
