For a start, close the gaping security hole.

This has nothing to do with how horrible internet explorer is, but how much more secure than regular mozilla is firefox? I had it for a while but it wouldn't load pictures most of the time so I switched back.

Well, the official 1.0 release is in two days, so it very well may have improved since you last used it.

At the very least, it has a security advantage in that it isn't as inextricably interlocked with the OS backend and filesystem.

But I should've just copied the text from the Firefox FAQ:

Is Firefox more secure than Internet Explorer?

Yes, Firefox and all other Mozilla-based products are more secure. Why? Here is a list of the most important reasons:

It is not integrated with Windows, which helps prevent viruses and hackers from causing damage if they somehow manage to compromise Firefox.

There is no support for VBScript and ActiveX, two technologies which are the reasons for many IE security holes.

No spyware/adware software can automatically install in Firefox just by visiting a web site.

Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's Java VM, which has a history of more flaws than other Java VMs.

You have complete control over cookies.

It's Acrobat Reader that makes it lock up for me

eighteen years pass...

First off, great thread. Proud to offer a revival of it.

Secondly, would anyone know why when I view certain PDFs in Google Chrome, the letters M, E, T, A, L, I and C appear in the "Metallica" font? (I believe there's a free one called "Pastor of Muppets".)

This only happens in Chrome. In Firefox, everything looks just as it's supposed to look. I've searched the web up and down and can't find any answer to this.

Below are the examples as well as the original link.

And no, I haven't tried this in Internet Explorer yet.

any suspicious chrome plugins? or look for the metallica font in your fonts folder and delete... https://superuser.com/questions/1235124/google-chrome-rendering-pdf-fonts-incorrectly

Thank you all, but especially ledge.

The font used in the PDF was ArialMT. I didn't have that one on file, but did have did still have that Metallica font, whose name included MT. And apparently, Arial is a big confusion point.

Tabs. My initial thought then was, Why would I want to keep everything open when I can just use my bookmarks? If only I had known then...
