The 29th of August promises to be the turning point in Texas and in the United States. A crowd of Texans plan to descend on the state capitol and demand that Governor Perry and our elected officials either enforce the 10th amendment on the federal government or secede from the union.

An admittedly unreliable-narrator friend of mine who has traveled to Austin multiple times on business really, really hates it there; his whole take is that it's pretty liberal for Texas, which means that he felt like he'd only end up in jail for kissing another dude in public* rather than dead or in the hospital. This goes against everything I've heard about the city but I've never been there.

* btw this happened to two other friends of mine in San Antonio when we were there during college
