I think Nowell is out to get me. A talking dog named Sam told me so. Is someone trying to scare me off the internets?

odzhun, Monday, 8 November 2004 01:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Me too, I'm scared. I think she's a vice cop trying to entrap horny old internetters by pretending to be an underage gurl.

From a Land of Grass Without Mirrors (AaronHz), Monday, 8 November 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

actually i think shes just a horny underage vice cop.

I was just going to lock it.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 8 November 2004 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Kenan (kenan), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, here's a hint. I READ ILX and ILM for a solid month before posting anything, and I've been posting for about six months and I still feel like an outsider most days. Get over it, it's not about you.

LSTD (answer) (sexyDancer), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

And honestly - WHAT the FUCK did I do to make everyone want to pick on me?

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Calm down, Nowell - most people here like you, I think. And if they're going to annoy you because of your age or you writing mannerisms it's their loss. You'll have more fun if you just relax.

What's wrong with my "writing mannerisms"? They're perfectly fine.

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, that's exactly why I hinted that you should go back to the "I'm just asking" thread. There are some suggestions about what you've been doing that's irritating, if you'll just pay careful attention and not see it as a hatefest.

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:42 (twenty-one years ago)

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't mean that I mind you mannerism, but some people seem to - like the way you seem to say 'what' a lot was causing people to mimic it to annoy you.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

you could stand to be a little more positive and talk about stuff other than how much you hate yourself and everyone hates you. it doesn't bother me all that much but maybe others could be a little annoyed by it. i don't hate you.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

XXXXPOST
I don't have ADHD, cuz ADHD is FAKE!!

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Dear Nowell,

You are hereby banned from starting threads about yourself and how you're perceived on ILX. If you're a troll, you'll ignore this anyway, obv, but if you're for real, then seriously, take this lesson about interacting with grown-ups - attention seeking tends to be a bad thing and people don't appreciate it.

If you do feel the need to talk about the you/ILX interface (and obviously you do, even though it's not a very attractive trait) then please revive one of the other threads about you. But only if you've got a good reason, alright? Otherwise it becomes self-fulfilling and we WILL want you off ILX because you're a tedious, immature solipsist.

-- Markelby (boyincorduro...), November 7th, 2004 2:40 PM. (Mark C) (later)

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

What a patronizing, condescending...

Ok, I don't really wanna talk about how I'm perceived on ILX anyway - but it's so upsetting, I just can't help it. I sort of like talking about me....and...Fuck.
By the way, why are teenagers perceived as the stupidest human beings on earth?

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

What's that line about hatred of the newly converted? Anyway, it's because we used to be teenagers, and now we're not we hate ourselves for how we were, and extend it to all teenagers.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Kevin is OTM. That means "On The Money."

(Kevin, I didn't get the D&D reference.)

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, do you know about the livejournal communities? they are mostly made by teenagers, I don't know, maybe you would be better off there?

aklasd@alkjfl.com, Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

stupid teenagers can become really smart adults if they don't dwell on how stupid everyone thinks they are. quit paying so much attention to what people think about you, ok?

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

uh, do NOT get a livejournal. if you want to write things down, write them on paper.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, either you're in charge of your own actions or you're not. If you don't really want to talk about how you're perceived on ILX, then don't start thread about how you're perceived on ILX. The fact that you don't seem to have much control over what you blurt out gives you the outward appearance of being a lot younger than 15 years old. More like 11 or 12.

Do you ever read any ILX threads that you haven't started? Other than "I think Nowell is out to get me," that is.

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh wait, that's this thread, hahaha!

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I was making a dumb joke confusing ADHD with AD&D. I think I'll go post on that nerd thread....

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I feel bad about how unpleasant some people have been to Nowell - it mystifies me, and annoys me because it smacks very strongly of bullying, something that really gets my back up. I'm not friends with Nowell and a 45 year old man has little in common with a 15 year old girl, I'm just appalled at the nastiness that's been on show. For what it's worth, Nowell, it is only a handful of people who have acted like this. And despite the way it is said, Markelby's post has some sense in it - if all your posts and threads are just about you, and you don't join in more general conversation, there will be people who don't like that, and you will find it more difficult to form positive links here. That doesn't mean you can't talk about yourself or anything like that, just that more other stuff would probably help.

If you want this thread deleted, just say the word and I'll do it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin OTM. If theres one thing worse than bullying, it's grown mena and women bullying children (in at least the legal description).

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that's just how psychiatrists talk, Nowell. Thinking you're depressed can be taken as a symptom of depression, I guess. Though you wouldn't necessarily be sad at all, paradoxically.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, Martin only said he's not your friend to show that the reason he's defending you has nothing to do with friendship. BUT HE'S DEFENDING YOU.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Right.

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell, I didn't mean anything like that - I was trying to make the point that I'm not defending a pal, just defending you on general principles. I think I've talked to you enough, and in friendly enough terms, that you've no reason to put a bad interpretation on what I said. Wouldn't it have seemed highly presumptuous to claim we were friends?

(xpost, Jayms spot on)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, yeah, it would've. See, I jump to conclusions very quickly.

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i think the doctor meant that you're the only one that knows the REAL answer to that question. the fact that you asked it is answer enough, probably.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. Whenever I tell people that I'm a completely normal person, they just snicker or say "Whatever". But it depends on who I'm telling.

Nowell (Nowell), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)
