Qu: What was the tune (artist? track?) that accompanied the "diving" item on MOTD2 last Sunday night? Thanx.

Joost Visser, Netherlands

Ans: Hi Joost, the track that accompanies the 'top 5' item on MOTD2 every week is the Thunderbirds theme tune.

Qu: Before I go absolutely mad, could you please let me know which song is played at the beginning of Football Focus when the presenter is telling us what is coming up on the programme! I can't sleep at night.

Chris, Britain

Ans: The song is called Spitting Games by Snow Patrol (it's on their debut album Final Straw.)

Qu: On Saturday's (30/4) edition of Football Focus there was a short feature about Danny Wallace. Accompanying it was a version of the song Danny Boy, and I just wondered who the version was by.

Andrew Thompson

Ans: Hi Andrew, the first half of the Danny Wallace tribute was Harry Connick Jnr's version of Danny Boy. That was then mixed into Danny Boy, Danny Boy by House of Pain.

Qu 5: Hi, there's this song where the video is four people in formation going "is this the real life or is it just fantasy". It's driving me mad...

I know what the song is, btw. It's just been driving me mad...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 8 November 2004 08:57 (twenty years ago)

OTM Steve! Debut Album - it was going to be their last if it didn't get commercial success. Snow Patrol - the memories.

AAARRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!

Don't do this to me. What is this? A thread about football or the Jesus and Mary Chain. Bloody Swygart, why you little... ::shakes fist::

I'm so confused.

i can't work out if the way people are exposed to music they like by chance indirectly is classic or dud. Football shows have been fantastic for it though, esp. Soccer AM on Sky Sports which tends to put something alt/indie to their 'of the week' montages (M.A.S.S. 'Hey gravity' once - I never heard that once on daytime XFM, feh)

What is the increasingly faint music that plays beneath The Strachan View? I liked it in 1990 World Cup when Germany were represented by Beethoven's 9th and England got The super-tinny Stone Roses.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 8 November 2004 11:35 (twenty years ago)

that's actually Strachan's hair making the music

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Monday, 8 November 2004 11:40 (twenty years ago)

He is the Human Theremin.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Monday, 8 November 2004 11:51 (twenty years ago)

that's Alan Ball surely. (is Alan Ball still alive? i feel awful for being unsure).

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Monday, 8 November 2004 11:52 (twenty years ago)

I haven't heard a squeak out of him for years, but I think I'd know if he were dead.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 8 November 2004 12:20 (twenty years ago)

'increasingly faint music'!

the bellefox, Monday, 8 November 2004 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Also, it's funny how Strachan seems to be talking in a small sound-proof box.

He could do with some Theatre Reverb.

seven years pass...
