So in answer to this question, I would say that you will never be able to understand who really cares about Princess Diana unless you really care about her, it's a kind of tautology (or koan?) like who cares about soccer.

Um, back on topic... The thing is, people do love the monarchy. I'm indifferent to Diana personally and I'm a republican (anti-monarchy UK version) so I'll never get it, like xx said.
A worthwhile contribution I've made to this thread, I think.

My sister went all funny the week of Diana's funeral, having previously never given a flying fuck about her, I got into an argument with her about it - she'd probably deny it now

I was in some cafe in London the one time I was there...pictures of Diana all over every single wall, and the waitress even bore resemblance to her.
Also creeped me out.

so many fitting responses to this fizzing around inside my head that i can't bear to commit myself to any one.

I saw the man with Diana written on his forehead outside the High Court yesterday. He obviously looked like he was fishing for an interview with one of the many TV crews, but was being ignored by all. He was wearing his crown, but the face writing was sadly a bit smudged.

*weeps* I care about Princess Diana. Does that mean there's something wrong with me? I collected pictures of the wedding as a child. She was so beautiful. Uncommonly beautiful.
― Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Monday, 28 July 2008 02:52 (seventeen years ago)
but being uncommonly beautiful has become kind of common

Also, the picture in the article is so grainy the person in it could be anyone with a similar hairdo to Diana's, it's no proof she was alive before she died.

“You will be polled on what you believe was the cause of her death and who was behind it,” Turner said, adding that he has yet to receive any complaints from the Palace. “We ask questions like ‘Do you think the royals were involved?’ ‘Do you think she was pregnant?’ All we do is ask questions on: what’s your opinion?”Turner insisted: “It’s definitely not in poor taste. It’s just showing the route of what happened. For people who’ve never been to Paris, it’s just showing the topography, and the distance, and the tunnel, and that kind of stuff…It’s done very professionally.”

That is a tiny fraction of the more than 11 million tourists who annually visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park along with Pigeon Forge’s Dollywood and more than two dozen other attractions, including the Titanic Museum, Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud, the Elvis & Hollywood Legends Museum and the Biblical Times Dinner Theater.
