that picture is like a domino effect of ass-staring going from right to left.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:37 (twenty years ago)

The domino theory of Communism!

Nemo (JND), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:38 (twenty years ago)

I knew t\'\'t would have something to say. ;-) (Was he really that idiotic on TV?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:39 (twenty years ago)

"The premier is a man of the people. But he is also a man, if you follow my meaning."

Nemo (JND), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:43 (twenty years ago)

re the ass-domino-effect:...well... i really don't think leon-id's ass looked too great (even when he was more or less alive, i mean (which seems to be the period that last picture's from, but't't...ehhh))

Ned -- his very last few years were often trully unbelievable tv-wise, his diction was abso-soddin-lutely catastrophic... numerous anecdotes were derived from his hapless mumblings, etc

Yes, that's just about what my eyebrows are doing as I get older. Dammit.

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:54 (twenty years ago)

apex, u rn't from the ukraine or samthung? ;)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:57 (twenty years ago)

Ha, my friend $4+ind3r was a very beetle-browed little girl (she recommends threading to sort out brows). Her siblings nicknamed her Brezhnev.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:57 (twenty years ago)

there is a girl in one of my classes from the ukraine and i think that's happening to her even.

xpost

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 19:59 (twenty years ago)

No, I think if I were to trace back far enough, my people would be from Wales. I've been told that Crump is a Welsh name.

the apex of nadirs (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 20:08 (twenty years ago)

is that Jill St. John in that staring pic?

Looks like the same dress, looks like the same dedication to detente.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:05 (twenty years ago)

The Cold War just got a little hotter.

Nemo (JND), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago)

there should be a calendar. BABES OF THE COLD WAR ERA.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:14 (twenty years ago)

It was Henry Kissinger, after all, who said that "power is the ultimate aphrodisiac."

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:28 (twenty years ago)

threading?

g--ff (gcannon), Wednesday, 10 November 2004 21:34 (twenty years ago)

While googling for pictures of Jill St John I learned that her and Stephanie Powers and Natalie Wood all attended the same ballet class while growing up. Jill and Natalie went on to marry Robert Wagner and Stephanie starred opposite him in Hart to Hart.

I don't think Brezhnev was an ugly man at all. He shares some of the nordic-slavic-mongoloid features of one person considered extremely attractive:

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 11 November 2004 00:18 (twenty years ago)

Brezhnev took Afghanistan
And Reagan took Beirut
Galtieri too the Union Jack
And Maggie, over lunch one day,
took a cruiser with all hands,
apparently to make them give it back.

(The lamest reference in the history of all time, but his name always makes that get stuck in my head...)

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 11 November 2004 00:45 (twenty years ago)

based upon some of david remnick's stories in lenin's tomb, leonid was ALL about the bling-bling. azeri communist party apparatchiks would give him intricate, priceless persian rugs and big-ass diamonds and other such gems!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Thursday, 11 November 2004 02:41 (twenty years ago)

dude Momus I kiss you.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Thursday, 11 November 2004 04:11 (twenty years ago)

That eyepatch really effects Momus' vision, doesn't it?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 11 November 2004 04:20 (twenty years ago)
