Answer to the question: probably the last time I had sex. I mean, how cool is that?

My girlfriend came sprinting back from her walk to drag me outside! I only caught the tail end of them, but it was still pretty cool. I also had never seen them before.

recreational nature use steadily down over last 20 years, as 70s-80s crunchiness dwindled and video games rose

I was at the Sea Life Centre in Brighton:
A Juveline Ray amazed me..
― Mister Craig, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 07:15 (seventeen years ago)
or even a Juvenile Ray. Forgive me, I only just woke up!
Last awesome one for me was watching the Leonid meteor shower in 2001. We dont usually get to see such things down south, but we did that time. Huge green rocks streaking across the sky at 3am. Fantastic.

Coming from England, my mind was blown when I used "speed = distance/time" to figure out the size of a Nevada lake I was flying over which had no civilization around it for scale.
― caek, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 08:42 (seventeen years ago)
last week, me and my friend fishing on the river Dane in high winds and heavy snow, great fun. although got a bit worried that one of the bigger trees might have come crashing down on us.
― Ste, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 09:28 (seventeen years ago)
I've been stunned and amazed by nature constantly over the last month or so. Literally stunned. Specifically, by mountain cedar pollen.
WHAM!
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 09:29 (seventeen years ago)
At my olds' farm about a year ago i saw, from a distance, an eagle swoop down and pick up a hare and fly off. It was pretty amazing.
― W4LTER, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 09:39 (seventeen years ago)
Haha I was like, ooh what's a Juveline ray? I LOVE rays. Man, I have to take the baby to the Sea Life Centre soon, she's going to freak.
I was pretty amazed by a fox walking past our back window the other day. They do hang out down the end of the garden but I've never seen one so close to the house before.
― Archel, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 10:47 (seventeen years ago)
last week while browsing through the youtube thread and watching this classic footage for the first time. I need to get out of the city more.
― Cosmo Vitelli, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 11:01 (seventeen years ago)
actually, anytime i go fishing i'm amazed by nature.
my favourite moment was when a kingfisher landed on my rod, i just had to stay still watching it for about a minute before it did a poo and flew off.
― Ste, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 11:03 (seventeen years ago)
similar to ste: a bird once landed on my rod and then some stuff came out of it- it was quite weird yet amazing!!

I went walking on a path near my house last month when I came across a large tree which had been blown over in the winter weather. When it fell down, it had taken out two other very large trees domino-style. I wish I had been there for that, but seeing the aftermath was still pretty amazing.

Aug '07, lookin at the San Juan islands off Bellingham, WA and poking around for incredibly vivid purple starfish on the coastal rock piles.
― Laurel, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 15:24 (seventeen years ago)
Late December, I spent New Year's with a friend's family in Munich and we took a day trip to the foothills of the Alps. Amazing, impressive "foothills" that just dropped off into a huge plain.

"tidepooling"
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 15:43 (seventeen years ago)
Not really pools so much as vertical stacks of worn-away rock with some cracks in between them. But carry on knowing better than everyone else.
― Laurel, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
"sea stacks" ;-)
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 15:57 (seventeen years ago)
these were small rocks along the shore? i think that's still tidepooling. my mom once injured herself on those in the vicinity, tho I don't think it was the San Juans.
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 15:59 (seventeen years ago)
no sea stacks of bellingham, tbs
I always am. I am queen of the nature queers. I am grateful every day for fucking ENZYMES and the WATER CYCLE and fucking mosses and ferns and shit. Oh, it's all I think about. (I don't much care for being outside, however.)
― Abbott, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)
last night i saw a wall cloud from the tornado that passed a mile north of our house. not only was i amazed, i was scared shitless as well. (i'm from the northeast. i'm not used to these southern storms)
