I wanna do this again:
When can we have another Chicago thread?

But this time, people should know about it before the weekend starts ...

Take some pictures of your weekend.. just doing mundane things (or exciting things, but not really mug shots of a bunch of people holding up drinks and hugging) .. post them here next week....

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw why didnt anyone post to this? I like this idea.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 13 November 2004 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Or are we waiting til the weekend is actually done... duh trayce.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 13 November 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I think this is a safe prediction:

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 13 November 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I mean - "but not really mug shots of a bunch of people holding up drinks and hugging" - what does he think we do on the weekend? Go fishing?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 13 November 2004 05:07 (twenty-one years ago)

(I didn't mean that to sound as laddish as it does - I mean, I think you're going to get what you don't want, because that's what most pictures are of)

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 13 November 2004 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

roffle Rox :D

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 13 November 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I would take pickshas, but I fear a bunch of pics of me cleaning my house because my mum is coming to stay from Interstate would be really boring.

I made my bed:

Put together bookshelves:

And hung up these record frames I got at Target:

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 14 November 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

You can get record frames at Target? Who knew?

Leon the Fratboy (Ex Leon), Sunday, 14 November 2004 21:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it's where I got the bookshelves too. The record frames were ten bucks each, which starts adding up pretty quickly, but it'll be fun to change the records out all the time.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey teeny - nice house you got there.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I know! I was just thinking the same thing, coveting her house...

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, it's a great place, but you forgot to say that the bed is "where the magic happens," Teeny. Your MTV Cribs etiquette is lacking.

Highlight of my weekend: Someone returned Strunk And White's The Elements Of Style to our library on Friday. Since we don't have to send it to the main library till monday, I've been re-reading it. I need to buy myself a copy. It's terrific.

miccio (miccio), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Teeny, you still have the coolest apartment ever. Mine drowns in papers.

The only thing to happen on my weekend was furniture too though. I got this dresser:

Dan I. (Dan I.), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks! it makes me incredibly happy to live somewhere so beautiful. I posted some pictures of the views on the view from your backdoor thread--we are surrounded by abandoned buildings and supposedly the crime in the neighborhood is bad, and so the rent is reasonable because of that and the corresponding fear of the inner city that everyone has--there just hasn't been any demand for housing. The only reason my building got rehabbed into apartments is because of the massive tax breaks the city is now giving developers. We pay $980 for 1300 sq. ft, 2bd/2ba, which is way more than I've ever paid for housing but living three blocks away from work is worth it, and something like this out in a nicer area would be way out of our reach.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, nice place. Mt apartment drowns in papers, too, and books, and stray laundry. This isn't really my fault, though. I live with an incorrigible messpot, God love 'er.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

And Roxy OTM abt my weekend. There was drinking, and there was regret. Actually there was sickness, too. Up until about noon today, having a cigarette sent me into a deathly state.

Tried to console myself by watching "A Hard Days Night," but it didn't help a bit. WTF this is supposed to be a great movie? It's not even funny! It's weird and clunky and I could give a shit about the music. Don't believe the hype.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

its a mere precursor to the sureal beauty of "help".

:| (....), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Help is such a great album that I'll still maybe check that out.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been sorting out the flat, as it was a complete tip, and finally defrosted the freezer - look we can fit things in again!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 15 November 2004 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

That's very cool, man.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 15 November 2004 05:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Mike Watt. I can't say enough good words about this man.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 15 November 2004 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I take it he was good then?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 15 November 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Quite.

A friend of mine said to me after the show, "Makes you wanna go home and play the bass, doesn't it?"

And I said, "Or never play it again, my friend."

They even did "This Ain't No Picnic" as an encore. The sixteen-year olds in front of me were taking pictures with their disposable cameras of the D. Boon sticker on Watt's bass.

It was really something, Kevin.

(Oh, and by the way, I finally did beat "Just Business". I'm nowhere near as far as most of y'all playing this stupid game, but I'm proud of myself nonetheless.)

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 15 November 2004 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds cool. I haven't been to a gig for months. Think there are a couple in December though.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Monday, 15 November 2004 07:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i tried to surreptitiously snap a cameraphone pic of the headstone that read "WANK" but it's probably for the best that it didn't come out.

results not typical (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 15 November 2004 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(not that a picture of the word "wank" represents my weekend in any way)

saturday i sat in front of the tv
sunday i sat in front of the tv some more and, in the afternoon / evening, for a change, i sat in front of the computer (with one eye on terminator 3)

oh, also went out to buy a paper both days but the newsagent is only 20 yards from my house so...

koogs (koogs), Monday, 15 November 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

It would have been nice if someone had magically snapped a picture of me dressed up like a fine gentleman swigging a can of steel reserve in a parking garage with a rent-a-cop shining his flashlight at me from behind.
Or maybe an action shot of me ditching my unfinished malt-liquor bliss and running like a jackass for the exit.

trigonalmayhem (trigonalmayhem), Monday, 15 November 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Went to a show. Was on press list. Gave my name to doorman. Doorman says "Je4nne is already inside, she's checked off." I almost exploded. Apparently, some chick said she was me in order to get into the show. I told a total of 2 people where I was going this weekend. Doorman let me in after I made it *very* clear how unhappy I was. Needless to say, my paranoia is being tap danced upon. And so:

i need to find or buy another adapter for my camera's charger. i wish i had pictures of the impressive 15th-19th century armour and weaponry (glaives! scythes! crossbows! scimitars!) at the wallace collection.

> argh i can't figure out how to post photos on this stupid site

just stick an i before the http: for the image. beware, though, that the nu-ilx doesn't like pictures bigger than 800x600 pixels. or pictures with odd characters in their urls. and some image hosting sites will stop you linking pictures from them.

No pictures but the weekend was fabulous if cold. A friend's 40th. We had a party camping out by Pangbourne. Cask of Breakspear's Best Bitter (some other lesser booze) suckling pig, and to cap it all off we clubbed together and got Rev Hammer to come and play for him, (and indeed with him), drunken fireworks explonding by me (including humerous tripping over th fireworks box several times and launching things into trees by accident (it was dark)), huge fire, -6 most of the night, country dancing, fantatsic.
