Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe - A Thread

Yes, while the rest of the world has been having S&M with Denise in a lowrider at the betting shop while having gang members mock their afros, I've been discovering the joys of the apocalyptic future past of Real Sport for Real Men with names like Barry and Colin. I'm not that good at it, but it's so much fun getting the ball down your own end, zigzagging past the whole of the opposition team, then throwing the ball at the keeper, knocking him down before he can get rid of it and then scoring anyway. Downloadabubble from http://the-underdogs.org . Tis grate.

True that, best game ever. Also avaiable on Gameboy Advance! On the C64 was the greatest.

had the ps1 update, cos i loved playing speedball on some old emulator... tis not nearly as good, very ill-suited for ps1 playpads...

I've seen screenshots of the PS1 version. It all looked a bit "tart's boudoir". It's one of those things that just shouldn't be either in 3D or pseudo-3D, the old graphics suit it perfectly.

I prefer the purism of Speedball 1, but Speedball 2 was a great multi-player diversion from the ubiquitous Kick-Off 2 and Lotus 2 when it came out.

Did Speedball 2 have the 'ardkore title-theme, or was the The Chaos Engine?

was *that* The Chaos Engine.

you're probably thinking of The Chaos Engine as that had the funky breakbeat whereas the Brutal Deluxe was a 4/4 stomper. both were composed by Richard Joseph who did all Bitmap Brothers games (i'm sure you knew that but there it is anyway).
