so i do social science statistical resarch right now, and im basically planted in front of a computer for eight hours a day. i am 2 floors down from the organization's main office, and thus generally separate from my bosses and co-workers. as of 20 minutes ago, i am now the only person consistently in my huge office, but i cant move into one of the offices with a huge window, since they might need one of them for "another project". 2 floors above, the office is teeming with people. pros include total freedom to do whatever i want, all day here. cons are everything fucking else. i call this a big dud. i feel like that dude in office space.

I don't know, sounds pretty good to me. I guess it might get lonely, but that's what ILX is for.

It sounds quite cool to me, the freedom from authority and annoying people. Do people come and talk to you? Can you go and talk to people? I mean, yeah, it's not good to be utterly alone at work.

I think it is. How I long to be utterly alone at work. If I could smoke in the office, even more bonus.

Plus, I think it would be the not being near a window thing that would piss me off the most.

ok ok ok - update - i just talked to my boss and scored one of the huge window offices down here. now we're talking. dud on its way to classic.

jel - not too much traffic down here, but a bit. the people are totally cool when theyre around, but im the only full-timer down here.
