I have been approached to be on TV. They want to make a documentary series, about me partly.
I don't know yet whether it is supposed to be a serious documentary, or a jokey one. Maybe I would be made to look like an idiot. I doubt it though. I'm probably an idiot, but not enough to stand out on TV. I mean, I am not very loud.
Anyway, ordinarily revulsion would prevent me taking part in such pranks. But the trick is, it is in another country. I am temporarily emigrating, and that is partly the reason why they want to film me. Another part of the reason is that I have famous relatives, in that country.
That it will be elsewhere makes me almost agree to it. Also, I don't know yet whether it would be a programme watched by a lot of people, or a little, although it is the biggest channel in that country. If a little people watch it, then there's not much at issue, except for that general revulsion.
But if it would be a lot, then, although the revulsion is great, I would have the opportunity to experience (very minor) celebrity for half a year before it vanishes totally. I might be recognised in the street, by total tubes no doubt, but nobody I know now or have known or will know come later will be aware of this. At worst, it would be temporary humiliation. Six months as a public prat. And it might be fun.
Would you do it?

i would hate to be recognised on the street. also i'd be scared how they'd edit it, because it wouldn't really be "you" that viewers would see, especially after they bring their subjective viewing experience to however you're portrayed. i'm kinda shy though, a more extroverted person might love it!

DO IT! What kind of crazy person doesn't dream of being famous in a foreign country? You'll be like David Hasselhoff!

You two are like the sides of a coin, I suppose.

Um, what is the documentary about again, exactly?

I had a few documentaries made about me. I wouldn't recommend it.

I keep reading this thread title as "How would you feel if you were a person?"
― Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)
I mean, how would you keep reading it that way?

So totally do it. If you don't, my god, you'll regret it when you're 50.
