I also think the idea of a species that changes it's physical capabilities, form, and behavioral traits as the result of environmental cues is pretty cool:

"A locust is a special kind of grasshopper, not a particular taxonomic group, having a unique life history strategy that involves the capacity to change its physiology, behavior, and morphology in response to environmental cues, especially crowding. The so-called gregarious phase is darker in color, has longer wings, and exhibits a propensity for aggregation, compared to the solitary phase. In the solitary phase, the locust is indistinguishable from a grasshopper, but in the gregarious phase it forms into dense bands of nymphs that develop into vast swarms of adults."

She was totally friendly when I talked to her after the show they did on the UCLA campus as a nooner, Inger was. Even agreed to do a promo for KLA! Falling James and Donnette Thayer were there and joined in.
