DVD Burning Software

Apparently, the software that came with my DVD burner only burns data DVDs .. I can't remember what the software is, but it blows.

Can anyone recommend something cheap(open source, free, etc) that burns video DVDs? I have MPEG4 files that I want to put on a disc that plays in a DVD player - so, nothing fancy required.

That's what I may end up going with. I have v5.5 - I'd have to upgrade to burn DVDs.. I was hoping for something really cheap & downloadable though...

Oh there is certainly no way of upgrading the free version out there, no sir. Not on the internet. Not at all.

Would Alcohol 120% be any good for this?

If they are mpeg4 then I don't understand the problem. DVD video is mpeg2 I think. I have two dvd players that play mpeg4 and I just burn the avis, etc as regular data dvds. Are you sure your dvd player plays mpeg4? If not you will have to convert them first.

http://www.burnatonce.com/ is free and does burn dvds when you mail away for a key telling them it is for private use.

for apple it's easy if you want to import your lewd movie tapes: you have imovie. only: one of my comps doesn't have it so i decided to install ilife. but to no avail: it refuses to install if because i have a newer version of itunes. ARGH. what are the alternatives?

I downloaded a program called DVD Shrink and it seems to do a good job.

cheers. also, what's good for just burning data dvds? i don't get on very well with the built-in xp burner.

Can't you just put everything you want to burn into a folder and choose an option to burn it DVD from the menu?

i think something like nero would work best for that. $erials are easily available for nero.

www.burnatonce.com - download burnatonce, install it, download the DVD add on, reboot and you will have a great burning program for free and not a bloated mess like Nero.

I've tried using DCD Shrink with Roxio, but when I burn the ISO file it tells me that the menu system is incompatible, despite it working find when I mount the image. What gives?

This is driving me nuts... how the hell do you burn a dvd rip onto a DVD? I've got dvd shrink and Nero but none of them recognize the files of the rip.
As you can tell, I know absolutely knowthing about this

http://www.doom9.org/ is very helpful for that kind of question, i find.

dvdshrink is great! thanks for the top. also burnatonce is great, too.

(doesn't your DVD recorder come with software??!??!)

yes, but sadly it's sony's own software and it is unbelievably bad.

Does anyone know of a good way of burning avi files onto DVDs that will divide them up into chapters, also what is a good way of putting episodes onto a dvd, just something that is pretty hassle free btw.
