Kids are weird.

Based on the "Childhood beliefs about Russians" thread, and a similar one about sex, and the various threads about first crushes and so on, I have come to the conclusion that kids are really weird. Why are they so weird, and more importantly, why do people STOP being so weird? Don't get me wrong, adults are still weird, but in more compartmentalized, predictable ways.

cuz kidz don't know nothin' and then they learn stuff.(hopefully)

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

meaning: kidz don't know how to act around people and then people show them how to act around people. it is a lot of trial and error as well.

Because as you grow into adolescence and adulthood you have to adapt to a more universally accepted set of basic facts about the world. Some adults DON'T do this and we call them crazy people. Kids get to participate in all kinds of silly belief systems that don't work in the real world because they don't have to pay rent or make their own food. You learn to keep your idiosyncratic ideals about the world to yourself most of the time because, as an "adult," they'll kick you out of the restaurant.

Only some people stop being weird, nick. Some other people like to wear diapers and go poopie for sexy good times.

Kenan (kenan), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

that exactly what he said, kenan, when he added "Don't get me wrong, adults are still weird, but in more compartmentalized, predictable ways."

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Some adults DON'T do this and we call them crazy people.

"People think that kids say the darndest things -- but so would you if you had no education."

Huk-L, Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe kids are weird because they look so weird. All small and without body hair.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Eugene Mirman? Who the fuck?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

That was disappointing.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

did you wait for it to load? Did you hear his version of Sunday Bloody Sunday? Or is that what's disappointing? I think it quite remarkable, myself.

Kenan (kenan), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I listened to "Heart Of Gold". I watched a few videos. I was bored.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

He's no Chingy, I'll give you that.

Did you watch the swift boat vid? It might not be up anymore, since it's not topical anymore.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't notice it, but I probably would have avoided it. Who's Chingy?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Would I know who these people are if I watched tv?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, get on it!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, are you willing to wear a bikini?
