Bono is singing the Beatles song "Rain" in my hometown right now

And George W just shoved Hillary out of the way to get a better look.

I think I liked it better when Little Rock was unknown and provincial to the rest of the country.

bono is silly, and should get off his high horse

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 18 November 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

man, i forgot my umbrella. i'm about to walk over to Slick's and get a grilled cheese and some tater tots.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Thursday, 18 November 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Bono and Dubya are both there?

Jesus where are the assassins in this country? I'm not saying anybody should kill either of them. I'm just saying I'm surprised nobody has tried yet.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 18 November 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Bono and Dubya are both there?

Some presidential libraries are the hot snot.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 18 November 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Huh, maybe Dubya (like Bono himself) with think Bono is God and actually listen to him.

Cause Bono may be annoying and egotistical, but at least he's got some liberal ideas in his head. Or more importantly not-ass-backwards ideas.

martin m. (mushrush), Thursday, 18 November 2004 19:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Bush I was looking at Bono, thinking, "Hey, wait a minute. Ain't this the guy who kept prank-calling me?"

Barry Bonds and Willie Mays flew in yesterday on the same plane as Robin Williams. Some woman on the radio was freaking out because she had been hugged by Chris Tucker.

I guess I would freak out too if Chris Tucker hugged me, but this woman actually seemed happy about it.

Andrew, does anyone at your workplace eat anywhere else besides Slick's? Good grief!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 18 November 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

This is going to encourage me to visit some day.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 18 November 2004 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost. sometimes i get a gyro at "Middle Eastern Cuisine," but i don't want to stand in line behind all the celebs today.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Come on down, gabbneb. I've been to the Hoover, Truman, Johnson, and Carter libraries, and this one looks to be the coolest. Hoover's library was surprisingly good, even though his grave is overshadowed by a McDonald's sign from the interstate.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

at a certain time in the afternoon does the big "M" cast a shadow right there on his grave?

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there a drought down there that they've already failed to remedy with more conventional scientific methods? Surely this won't work unless he duets with a Native American.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I've weirdly swung around to liking Bono finally. He's grown into such a parody of himself, and at the same time one can almost hear him saying: "Ladies and gentlemen, I recognize that this goon with delusions of grandeur which I inhabit is a huge jerk, but this creature now has a life of its own, and I CAN NO LONGER STOP IT!!!!!!"

Plus, yeah, he's attached himself to some worthy causes.

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Thursday, 18 November 2004 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I recognize that this goon ...

I thought that around the time of Achtung, Baby but the pendulum has sadly swung back the other way.

xpost:
Jimmy, ever the scientist, is studying the amoebae in a drop of water on the chair.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 18 November 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Hilary on the news this morning talking about the Clinton library and immediately thought of the Pinefox.

Leon the Fratboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 18 November 2004 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Jimmy's an ol' Navy boy. He can stand a little wetness.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 18 November 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Bob Dylan seems to credit Bono with helping him return to form in Chronicles. Brian Eno's descriptions in his Diary of Bono's driving skills are hilarious--Proof of his belief in the afterlife, haha, etc, etc.

LSTD (answer) (sexyDancer), Thursday, 18 November 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I totally want to see this, Little Rock's not too far away from St Louis either! FACL?

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 18 November 2004 22:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Six hours, teeny. We also consider ourselves a part of Cardinal Country.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Thursday, 18 November 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

ai lien m. draheim (kold_krush), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

So, I know why he sang "Rain",.....but why did he and Edge dust off "Sunday Bloody Sunday"????? Hardly seems like the appropriate event for that particular (not a rebel) song.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

um considering clinton's effort toward peacemaking in ireland (major play in the library apparently) i'd say it's incredibly appropriate.

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, that was explicitly the point

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh duh. Sorry, silly me.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw the Dead play a truly great version of it once upon a time

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The man looks a lot better with his newish haircut and a few years on him. Almost Van Dyke-like.

TOMBOT, Friday, 19 November 2004 02:55 (twenty-one years ago)

haha gabbneb for a sec i thought you said you saw the dead play a truly great version of 'sunday bloody sunday'!

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

(and the post-surgery weight loss)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, me too. I was all "I don't see it on that setlist!"

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 19 November 2004 02:58 (twenty-one years ago)

that would be something

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 19 November 2004 03:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i kinda hope if clinton doesn't go the carter route he'll go the truman route and raise hell and talk shit about current white house occupants. he can drive the right crazy by simply farting (they're already freaking that the library's exhibit - get this - actually gives the impression that clinton didn't deserve to be impeached. the nerve of that guy!), it would cool to see how batshit they'd go if he actually put effort into fucking with them.

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 19 November 2004 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Boy, he got fucking intense with Peter Jennings tonight about lacking moral authority.

Ai lien! Now I have three real-life friends on this thing!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 19 November 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i know, i know. oh boy.
