He hasn't deserted us has he?

DG, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Don't think so: he's just currently busy with other stuff. He and I emailed at the w/e...

mark s, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

It's him posting with that skylarking2001 e-mail address and cutesy handles - or else it's an astonishing Robin impersonator.

Patrick, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Yes, the Skylark was me. I went into hiding for a bit and am currently on reduced power - i.e. not reading everything that gets posted and posting less often. I've gone back to my real name / main address, though.

Robin Carmody, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

He's with Batman.

Ally, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

robin, what was the skylarking mail/handle all about?

gareth, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

XTC skylarking is Robin's fave summer album?

DJ Martian, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Martian: spot on. Gareth: I partially wanted to see how well the others recognised my style, and partially I thought a few people (who do not need to be named) would view my posts without a certain preconception if my name was not attached to them.

Robin Carmody, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Robin, I tried the same thing. Except my nemesis (crap, what a lame nemesis I have, can I take him back to the shop and get a new one?) actually made nice-nice with my alter-ego and talked to him quite happily. I felt almost slightest, but then again, I felt rather vindicated as well.

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

robin, i recognised yr style immediately. i don't know if thats what you wanted to hear or not. i think you possibly have the most distinctive style of all. compliment btw. disconcertingly, my style was thought comparable to a certain other poster (the least liked of them all!)

kate, who was yr alter-ego, btw?

robin again, when is elidor returning? i have a new thing on my site which may interest you, don't know if you've seen it yet?

gareth, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Sheesh, Gareth, you're touchy! I was JOKING!!!

Not telling about my alter ego. I think it's easy enough to guess. He only ever pokes up on threads with dp.

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I knew those other posts were Robin, but then they stopped for a bit, so I was just wondering...
Anyway, nice to know you're still about, and it's also good to see Mr. Carlin back as well.

DG, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Gareth: nonsense, no-one could confuse your style and mine.

the least liked pinefox of them all, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Nonsense, Pinefox. I think you're wonderful, and all my pisstakes bar one have been meant affectionately. I'm not sure who Gareth is referring to, but I don't think he means you. At a guess, doompatrol.

I have been working on all number of things, Gareth, and I'm still in a bit of a muddle. I will look at your site later on, though.

Robin Carmody, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Getting pisstake: classic or dud?

Ally, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I called him doompatrol after a particularly strangely formatted double post. He is now sulking and won't speak to me. Waaaahhhhh.

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

no sulking kate honest;) had to go and sort out a router configuration (ugh, work! what will they think of next?). am speaking to all, and looking forward to triggerfest aug3-4-5, as can't make next wknd (although may possibly make strange fruit on sat night - will this be a club, or is it just spearmint?)

also, know somebody who may be interested in playing strange fruit, what should happen here, can i put said person in touch (or shall i mail you or paul privately with details first?)

gareth, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

If Spearmint goes well, there should be a club afterwards. If it goes badly, then we have to shut down the place around 11pm in order for Paul and I to run and catch the night-bus. Zoiks.

Best to e-mail Paul about SF, but they are pretty much booked up until October... crazeeeee.

And don't let me catch you fixing router configurations, or any other sort of gainful employment style actions during prime posting time again, young man!

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Spearmint aren't very good.

the pinefox, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

changing your name every post = not a very good disguise, robin

Josh, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Yeah, you gotta throw in some extra exclamation marks or something, now that'd be unexpected.

Ally, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Like this Ally?!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!

Josh!!!!!!, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Plus more posts about sex and fewer about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. I'm not sure it would fool me, but it would sure as hell confuse me.

Patrick, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

That was pretty rude. Sorry about that.

Patrick, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

That was your idea of rude?

Yes, Josh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done my boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sufficiently confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you work for Confuse-an- Ally??????????!!!

Ally, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I am a man of a thousand faces yo.

Josh, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Not rude at all, Patrick. It's just that I am far, far more of a Repressed Englishman than even Tom Ewing.

Robin Carmody, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Also a bigger BBC Radiophonic Workshop fan.

Josh, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

There's a Strange Fruit this w/kend as well, if Gareth or anyone else is interested. Featuring the rather excellent Pram followed by dancing until the ungodly hour of 3am.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Tom Ewing is a Repressed Englishman? Have you seen his shiny purple shirt?

the pinefox, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

yes richard, i know about the pram thing on saturday. unfortunately i am unable to attend. from now through till at least next saturday i am occupied getting ready for, and doing, a cisco course. bad timing all round.

shockingly, i have still never been to strange fruit (and only once to track&field). from august onwards i shall make attempts to rectify this.

gareth, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I have nothing to say about Spearmint's music, but I've read their rider, and they're fucking arses. Now take your 40 litres of mineral water and shove them! Grrrrr.

Pram this weekend is going to be mad. Everyone thinks's it going to be at the Garage. No, it's UPSTAIRS. I have a feeling the queue is going to be worse than for TBS. And more deserved, cause, well, I like Pram a lot better than TBS.

Gareth, if you don't make an effort to get to Strange Fruit in August to see Ver Lollies at Ver Spitz, I shall personally get doompatrol on yer arse. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! indeed.

(I've never actually met Gareth, but I just like abusing him already.)

masonic boom, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I have something to say about Spearmint's music. They're not very good.

the pinefox, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

That's nice, Pinefox, now go back and read the thread about Lloyd Cola and the Commotions over on ILM again.

masonic boom, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

lollies. spitz. august. strange fruit. what date is this? i shall most certainly attend this show, although i am hoping the venue isn't as ovenlike as when i saw piano magic there in june! i have still never actually heard the lollies, i am imagining a kenickie meets dandy warhols type thing?

gareth, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Erm... August... 18th at The Spitz. Yes. Sorry, too many tourdates to keep in my head. Will post full tour itinerary for meetups in strange towns as the dates approach. Kenickie meets Dandy Warhols, yeah, that's close enough. We'll try to get our keyboardist to keep her shirt on, this time, though. The last time we played The Spitz, she was almost nude. It was so hot I was almost jealous. Then I remembered my dignity, oh yes.

masonic boom, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

thats a saturday isn't it? cool

gareth, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

MB: I don't think I need you to tell me what threads to read.

the pinefox, Friday, 13 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

My tongue was in my cheek on Mr Ewing, Pinefox. And, while he may not be a Radiophonicist on my scale, he has had nothing but praise for my writings on the subject.

Robin Carmody, Sunday, 15 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

So - where is he now?

the pinefox, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

seven months pass...
and, indeed, now?

gareth, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

and DG for that matter? and nicole, and omar. there seem to be less people recently, or am i just imagining things?

gareth, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

yeah, where is Omar, I need an update on Ajax's playing style under Koeman, Eurogoals doesn't show enoiugh of the matches to know what's going on.

chris, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'm here, just less often lately due to massive amounts of school work. But I will be done forevah in mid-April hurrah.

Nicole, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

*My tongue was in my cheek on Mr. Ewing*

Maybe it still is, hence the quiet.

Dr. C, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Sorry.

Dr. C, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'm still out there, if anyone's desperate to know.

Robin Carmody, Friday, 1 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

two months pass...
He's back!
