That link didn't work for me?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 November 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I will listen to the left channel of it now (since that's all I have at work).

I just figured out how to ftp from work, so here is link that may or may not work to my new tune that's sort of like microhouse meets Twin Peaks w/polyrhythms, or perhaps not all like that.

That should work better.

I like Polka Face! I'm a sucker for that sort of editing.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 November 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Hari, that sounds great. Are all the voice bits yours?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 November 2004 21:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Are you playing that bass, Jordan? I likes.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 November 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Roxy! My friend Scott is playing the bass, he's the other half of the group. He handles the stringed instruments, I do the drums, and we both fuck around with the keyboards (okay, he plays them, I fuck around with them).

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 November 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I really like the bit nigh on the middle where everything drops and then the "psh" comes back in and everything is slightly more mental.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 November 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

psh

Heh, that's exactly what that track is titled in Cubase. My girlfriend really liked that sound, whereas the triplety vibes part made her screw up her face and say "ew, that's a jam band sound".

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 November 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Hari, are those real hi-hats that you sampled?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 November 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

thats me playing real hi-hats.

the only sampled things are the 'shh' sounds in the left channel and the obvious vocal samples.

the rest i did 'live'.

yes roxy, i did all the vocal bits. To the Nog-streme.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 20 November 2004 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Cool. Heh, I was going to say I really liked the off-kilter, not programmed feel of the hats.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 20 November 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

my hand started to ache and i couldn't keep a steady pace

damn weak wrists.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 20 November 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

criticism of Hari's song:

All the rhythms and sounds are neat (except the 'ahh' vocal sample. It's too much like 'enhh' and not enough like 'AHHH' if you know what I mean. It's lacking emotion and not lacking emotion in a successful way.)

The bass line and melodys are good too, but the ending doesn't get anywhere. I was hoping for some kind of build up or interesting change. I lost interest near the end, the ending should be better than the beginning.

A Nairn (moretap), Saturday, 20 November 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

thats a fair critism, i was listening today and it seemed a bit empty (emotion wise). I focused too much on the other stuff going on.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 20 November 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I enjoyed this! I do agree that a build-up at the end would be good. I started to want one around 7:22.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I really like that it's kind of 'ennh' instead of 'ahh.' Talk about an overused syllable.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

7:22????

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 20 November 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I think she got the two songs confused.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 20 November 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm talking about rough 3x3x3 -- oh, that's Jordan's -- I'll give Hari's a listen now.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Saturday, 20 November 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That explains why I didn't catch an "ennh"

Maria D. (Maria D.), Saturday, 20 November 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked this song, too. I wish the main vocals were pushed up a bit. They're crowded out a little by the ennhs.

Maria D. (Maria D.), Saturday, 20 November 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

i just uploaded another, which is completely different from the last one i posted.

A note about the subject matter: less chicks, more nog.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 20 November 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Maria. :> Sorry, when the song is mastered it'll fade out by 6:00 so as to be less boring.

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 15:06 (twenty-one years ago)

This one is old, but I still like it:
