It's far too riddled with bugs and security holes to be released to the public, sorry!

Andrew (enneff), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you even care about it?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

It's the path to your heart.

Up on the hill
People never stare
They just don’t care
Chinese music under banyan trees
Here at the dude ranch above the sea
Aja
When all my dime dancin’ is through
I run to you

Up on the hill
They’ve got time to burn
There’s no return
Double helix in the sky tonight
Throw out the hardware
Let’s do it right
Aja
When all my dime dancin’ is through
I run to you

Up on the hill
They think I’m okay
Or so they say
Chinese music always sets me free
Angular banjoes
Sound good to me
Aja
When all my dime dancin’ is through
I run to you

Every country has their stupid (AaronHz), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, not Shakespearian like. More like the kind that focuses on imagry and not "I love you sooo much oh, won't you love me" kind of stuff. I also like the kind my friend writes, silly ryhmes that you can relate to.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, thanks Aaron.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi again Aja. How are you tonight?

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Steely Dan != Romantic

Sir Elton John is more romantic than Steely Dan for flipsake.

I care about the source code because

1. It is written in PHP
2. I am learning PHP, and I was curious

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

OK. Had an interview at the "other" school and they totally think I want to go there. Oh, they are going to accept me no doubt. It's sad really.

I saw Nicole on Friday. Make sure she tells you hi from me.

I did an oral report on Elton John for music class. Wonder where I got the idea to choose him???

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The Cuervo Gold
The fine columbian
Make tonight a wonderful thing

Every country has their stupid (AaronHz), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait…you don't want to go there? Can you at least shadow there? Please, for me?

Speaking of Sir Elton

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no, no, and NO!!! It's not SH that I did an interview for! I'm shadowing Dec 9. I really do want to go to SH.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

My mistake.

You know, December 9th is considered a highly auspicious day for me. Something big always seems to happen on December 9th. Highlights from recent years include:

Losing Spelling Bee (2003)
Winning the Geography Bee (2002)
Birth of Shannon Elizabeth Nesbitt (my cousin) (2001)
Xiana Fairchild disappears (1999)

SI sucks. We here at SHCP hate that school.

I hope that when you shadow you get Nicole, because she is in all but one of my classes.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I told my mom that I wanted to request her to shadow me. My best friend wants to go to SI. He keeps telling me how much they hate SH.

I gess this'll be another big Dec 9. The only reason it'll be that day for me is because it's one of my mom's days off.

Hey, I'm on the Academic Decathlon again. This time I got math. My math teacher is also my music teacher. He likes Elton John too. I made him play "Bennie and the Jetts" one day.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

HI, AJA!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

The best Sir Elton song is “Funeral for a Friend/Love lies bleeding”. It's 11 minutes long, but it’s excellent. Best song ever.

I suck at math. I should probably just make up a disease for it, as is common practise today.

“Dante, you suck at math”
“Hey shut up I have…cognanumerslexia!”
“Oh sorry”

Brilliant!

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey.

You suck at math?? Hey, I could tutor you. Math is so Fing easy!!

Notice that by putting umlaut dots over a letter in his name he is trying to attract attention. It’s what we call a “Subliminal Pickup line”.

Compare

You have your own board, you two.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I am the granddaughter of an accountant

That was considered evil in 1960s China. If you get accepted to SH you will have to read some book about the Cultural Revolution in China over the summer. It's actually good. See this post.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Who cares. It's like me spelling my name "Asia."

I just say hey because he says hi.

Leeeter, we don't really. Some morons hacked the hell out of it and now every post contains an ugly pornographic image by default, however they managed that.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

my grandfather was also an accountant! and when i went to college, i originally was an accounting major!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't call me Leeeter.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

What did you major in?

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I still can't believe you suck at math!!

What is it you're having trouble on?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't call me Leeeter.

Can I call you "Liter"?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

wu-tang is for the children

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

You can.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I understand it more but I kept getting confused in where to make a number negative or positive. I get confused with characters easily. Often I'll write words inverted. Like when I write 'dante' I always write the a first. No clue why.

Can I call you "Lêter" or "Líter"?
Dáñtê [pronounced 'dan-ya-tey']

Now that looks cool.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

how are the nuns treating you these days, aja?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Like when I write 'dante' I always write the a first

I do that with words too. I'll write the second letter first. It's strange.

how are the nuns treating you these days, aja?

Funny you should ask. My nun is makeing us write "ABC" books about what we're grateful for. It's due Tuesday and I'm only on J. I'm thinking of putting Jesus to make her happy. I obviously have other things like high school and Nirvana box sets on my mind. Why do I have to do a project that should be for second graders?

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Can I second that I'd like to see the source code, even if in a totally neutered and out-of-context way. Mostly for similar reasons - I'm learning PHP and like to grok what I can. (Sorry, I just ain't no haxxor. For what it's worth, though, "security through obscurity" doesn't work.)

To make you feel smart.

My english teacher is a brother. He is mean.

Dante's ABC of Angst:
A is for Anarchism
B is for Banning the Pledge of Alliegence in schools
C is for Capitalist American Pigs

And so forth, et cetera, ad hominem, tempus fugit.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

PHP's writers seem to be christian

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Dante.

K is for Killing Krap.

I would so put Killing Joke if I didn't think anyone would ask questions.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

For D did you put Dante? :)

D is for Dante [Evans|Santa Maria], a strange, mythical and arcane guy who thinks the US never landed on the moon and that Northern Ireland belongs to Ireland, not the UK. I can't tell you his real name but it rhymes with Don M. Ball.

E is for Eating
F is for Fuc…oops just skip that page

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

No copying and pasting either, dick.

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I couldn't put D is for Dante because I have to write why and people will ask questions because I call you Sean.

I saw Nicole at my school because we were taking the Volleyball pictures and she was looking for her sister.

Besides, for some reason I only really swear at school.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

i was only joking of course :-)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, don't act like you don't swear! I didn't start till I was in sixth grade though and even then I'd only go as far as Damn.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

They never suspect me of anything. I stabbed a boy sitting next to me with my pen twice and threatened to seven times and didn't get caught. I attempted to slap him and he got in trouble.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ohh a mean girl.

Well I'm gonna go play my piano. Good night Aja.

Gute Nacht!!

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 21 November 2004 04:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Night. I gotta go anyway. And I'm not mean, just short tempered.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

People who want to learn PHP: why can't you just download one of the many, many other freeware PHP projects and study its source code? After all, if the ILXcode really does have that many holes, won't you be better off reading open-source code that has less?

I may be wrong, but I vaguely remember one of the original ILX code-writers (Gareth, possibly) saying specifically that they didn't want the ILX code to be open-sourced.

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

It was Graham that said he didn't want the code released, although for what reason I cannot fathom. (embarassment, maybe?) It's hardly extensible, nor is it easy to read. The layout is hardcoded in places, making it difficult to visually rebrand. Just about the only thing it does well is ILX.

Not that I wish to belittle Graham's efforts. God knows somebody had to do it. And as far as I know it was his first project of this kind, and I'm sure he learnt a lot from the experience and would do things differently if he tried it again.

Andrew (enneff), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, you know, maybe the argument could be put forth that if the code was opened up, it could be improved upon, yes? Close some of those holes, make the code cleaner and more portable?

Girolamo Savonarola, Sunday, 21 November 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, but if the person who wrote most of it doesn't want to open it up beyond ILX, that's the end of it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 21 November 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Gareth, Graham - I knew it was someone beginning with G, at least.

Martin OTM - both legally and morally, if the writer says he doesn't want to publish the source code then the source code doesn't get published.

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 21 November 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)
