I have seen Flirting with Disaster, The Third Man, Faces, and The Joy Luck Club. The movie on this list I'm most interested in seeing that I haven't is Smoking/No Smoking.

The Third Man is a masterpiece, but you all knew that.

I got a first for a University essay about The Third man. It obviously inspires academic greatness.

I saw When Father Was Away on Business a long long time ago, so I don't remember much. The father sleeps with the wife or mistress of a top Communist official or something, so he gets sent away. It's centrally about his son (who is about 10), and I seem to also recall a very awkward scene where he gets into a bath with a girl from his class and they both look at each other's sexes. Take that, Birth!

Buckaroo Banzai - I got no idea whatsoever what the hell was going on. But the idea of Banzai doing all the shit he did is awesome. His crew = TEH 80's. The end credit thing is awesomely kitsch. Forget what you've heard, this is the film that Luc Besson masturbates to at night. I want the sequel promised me!

I've seen The Third Man several times, but I always end up forgetting like 80% of the film within a week. I just remember a few key scenes, settings, and plot points. That's cool though; I get to rediscover it everytime.

I'm also very amused that I managed to generate a list that includes a porn classic like The Opening of Misty Beethoven.

And if you want to know why that's on the list at all, keep in mind that the list includes everything nominated for the 2002 Sight and Sound poll. Here's the specific nomination card that included it, which is quite amusing in its own right: http://www.bfi.org.uk/sightandsound/topten/poll/voter.php?forename=Joel&surname=David

Can't we confine this to I Love Film so I don't have to wade thru bullshit like "Breakup Sex,c/d"?

When Father Was Away on Business is a splendid Kusturica film, but not as great as Underground.
