Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, I just changed the contrast.

What was weird about it?

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Here we go. A more easy to recognise image

http://www.eyecandyforthebrokenhearted.com/darrendesktop.jpg

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah, I just changed the contrast.

For those of you not following the thread, this is a joke, and also a huge lie.

That is not me in the pic btw, I am female.

So is this.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

(pull-away view)(cat has evacuated)

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

ha. Alex in NYC may be able to discern a certain logo in that 2nd photo if he squints...

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Kenan, Not sure what your issue is, perhaps you'd like to email me about it?

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

???

No, I just thought you were joking. Not an issue at all, so I thought. Are you a girl? Thas cool, I'll buy that. However, I saw that first pic you posted with my own eyes when you first posted it, and it changed a couple minutes later, completely. Not the same pic at all. I couldn't have done that alone. Unless maybe you renamed a picture I had in my cache.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey Kenan, I just figured out what may have potentially happened.

On my ftp I had another image i'd used here before called desktop which was indeed of my computer desktop, and I saved over it. If your PC had it cached, it may have initially displayed that image. I did also soon after I uploaded my image for this thread, re-upload it with the contrast changed. But hey thanks for calling me a liar.

As for being female or male. I have met at least two ilxors who i'm sure will agree I'm all woman.

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

heh x-post.

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, look, I really thought you were joking, and I was not aiming to be combative at all. I apologize for any umbrage taken.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

MORE PICS NOW, PLZ!

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Nah it's okay. I'm just a moody bitch having a shit day. It is I who should apologise.

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

It's high time someone posted a pic of their fashionable, pristine destop adorned with a nice new Apple product, instead of the messy PCs we all seem to like so much.

Kenan (kenan), Sunday, 21 November 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

oh if I only could find my charger.

I've got everything from wine glasses to newspapers to computer hardware scattered across my desk.
also spoons and stickers and a mug full of ephedra pills.

trigonalmayhem (trigonalmayhem), Sunday, 21 November 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a messy desk then.

papa november (papa november), Sunday, 21 November 2004 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Another post from the department of not being able to find the transfer cable

At home (grey melamine-covered-chipboard "PC Workstation"-type desk):
* PC monitor, natch
* Tube of tea tree lip balm
* Empty CD cases
* Phone charger
* Pen for Wacom tablet
* Paper storage drawers, actually full of randon cables and old receipts
* Book on occult conspiracy theories - Freemasons, Priory of Sion, etc
* Pile of unread newspapers (Guardian and Observer)

At work (dark grey metal desk with black faux-leather surfaces):
* Three PC monitors (1xTFT, 2xCRT)
* Two keyboards, four mice
* A network hub
* A couple of four-way power strips
* Phone charger (for work mobile)
* Stack of old CDs (mostly old company phone bills)
* Stack of spare CD cases
* A couple of Lotus Notes/Domino textbooks
* A notepad and a couple of pens
* Empty vending-machine coffee cups and stirring sticks
* "Useful" pages torn out of old computer magazines
* Last week's Computer Weekly

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 21 November 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, OK, if we can do it in text, then I can join in.

On a plain pine-type table acting as a desk:
*PC monitor (flat-screen, ooh)
*Loads of floppy disks, CDRs and DVDs that really should be put in some workable order
*Big box of all my mum's 7"s that she has given to me
*Random bits of post that should probably be in the bin
*Lots and lots of cigarette packets (mostly empty)
*A rapidly filling ashtray
*A nice red phone with the numbers circling backwards for some reason
*A phone book
*Two pens
*A lighter
*An empty wine glass
*Some CDs sent to me by occasional poster zappi/DJ Salinger
*Sheet of music score for cover version that band is doing
*Sellotape
*Strange bits of metal that I cannot identify

Under the desk:
*More computer stuff & wires
*Box of small instruments (eg kazoos, ocarinas) & leads
*Plastic cutlass
*Housemate's violin
*Dirt

Whoa! Messy like mine!

papa november (papa november), Monday, 22 November 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The sad thing is that I just cleaned it up a bit today, too. I try not to let it get this bad but I've just been so busy with trillions of assignments the last few weeks that I let general maintenance slide a bit.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 22 November 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Two LCD monitors! La de da ;P

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 November 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Interesting array of books there.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 22 November 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I've read that adoption in america book too but I forget why.

papa november (papa november), Monday, 22 November 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(many of the books are integral to an open assignment spec script I'm writing but not allowed to talk about. Still... draw conclusions.

the white bohla watch is broken and apparently 'rusty' inside. the alessi analogue watch I take off when I get in cs wearing a watch hurts my wrist. the cheap casio digital (amazing watches!) isn't in shot.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, poor little hurty wristypoos.
