My parents met there in the mid-1950s when they both worked for General Electric. So I have romantic/sentimental associations. I've driven through a few times, and while the part of NY state is quite scenic and lovely, its economic woes are quite visible also.

I wrote a song called "Schenectady" once due to the hillarious mispronounciation that the phone company came up with. It was a lost shoegaze epic. Or should I say Schoegazing.
