Right now. Home or work, the window closest to your computer. Let's have a snapshot of the world (the ILX world, anyway) on this day.

Hey Jude, Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:33 (twenty years ago)

dark.

Dreary and drizzly. A half-full parking lot. A deer grazing on a grassy patch adjoining the parking lot.

The side yard is soaked from last night's downpours, bits of emerald grass poking up among drifts of brown, yellow and orange leaves. The remaining leaves on the old hickory tree have gone a uniform yellow-brown that seems sometimes almost gold in the sunlight. Across the street the small brick insurance building seems to be slow on business today, and our neighbor Mr. Hightower's white truck stands sentry in front of the barricade of still-green trees that front his neat white house. The sky is the most amazing blue, the way it always gets on the day after a big storm system, with puffs of white cloud scurrying along in the wind.
A gray squirrel is practicing his Iron Man posturing in the middle of the sidewalk, and the gray and white cat across the street is watching with idle interest. Wind chimes are singing in the breeze.
All in all, a gorgeous day in north Mississippi.

Mark OTM.

A bright yellow sandwich shop as well. It is OK, but charges £1.60 for a bacon sarnie, which is scandalous and taking advantage of the hungover.

A fire escape. It's dark.

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 16:46 (twenty years ago)

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:11 (twenty years ago)

Ken, you appear to have a doughnut in a snowglobe on your desk. Can this be right?

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:21 (twenty years ago)

Is it a new kind of executive toy?

dirtyish window, too much flash = I live in a weird industrial alien world

From my 5th floor workspace I can see across in one direction to Manchester and The Pennines faintly in the darkness. From the windows opposite I can see the gasholders on the edge of Warrington, and quite a few miles of Cheshire countryside in front of them. It's too dark now to see much properly, but given good weather and daylight the view is really pretty impressive and has lifted my spirits from the workplace grind on many occasions.

Ken C - was that done in Paint? Lovely effort!

Bill A, Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:30 (twenty years ago)

Yes I meant to add that pic's really impressive, Ken

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:36 (twenty years ago)

thanks! yeah in paint! i'll have the camera proper tomorrow so i'll take a picture to see how well it compares.. that donut thing is actually someone's monitor - it's some crazy shoape with a load of holes on top.. i could have done a better job with that really!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:40 (twenty years ago)

shape

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:40 (twenty years ago)

Oh i can see that now! Like the back of it with the little ventilation holes.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:41 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:44 (twenty years ago)

Drawing freehand with a mouse is like trying to draw using a bar of soap, so it's a commendable effort, Ken.

Is the colourful splodge on top of yr monitor a trinket of some kind? Looks like a miniature rhino attacking a Nemo toy on my screen...I suspect this is incorrect.

Bill A, Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:49 (twenty years ago)

I particularly like the rendering of the screen and the windows of the next block.

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 18:23 (twenty years ago)

oooh you are close! it's actually sitting on top of my boss's monitor (just behind mine).. and it's a hippopotamus and some kind of fish! so pretty much otm!

I have a lovely view of my shitty run-down apartment complex
complete with depressing siding and windows that won't open!

Sean's photo is beautiful.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 25 November 2004 01:54 (twenty years ago)

Especially if you cut it off just under the car, the red dude might add too much colour?

Ken - screw accurate, the Paint version has a lyrical quality that the camera can never replace...but again, your attention to detail is formidable.
