I spent FOUR HOURS shopping for an advent candle/calendar yesterday. It became a slightly obsessive mission. You cannot get advent candles for love nor money these days (admittedly I only tried money) and all the calendars were ugly especially the chocolate-bearing sort, sadly.

So I welcome this thread.

(I got the candle eventually, from Past Times. £8 struck me as pricey for a bit of red wax, but by that point I was delirious.)

I am annoyed because Advent started yesterday and we decorated the house and everything -- but I am not permitted to take out any of the yummies in my Advent calendar because it doesn't start working until the 1st!

It's one thread per day, isn't it? But somebody needs to be responsible for choosing the theme each day (and thinking up 24 different themes is tough).
