HERE IS WHERE WE ANTICIPATE THE *OTHER* ALEXANDER -- the Baz Luhrman one

You know, this one, though there's some debate as to whether it'd be filmed now.

Alexander! Leonardo DiCaprio!

Olympias! Nicole Kidman!

Producers! The De Laurentiis family! (argh...)

Possible location for the shoot! The Australian outback!

Latest word from Luhrmann's people as of early November, in response to Kidman saying in October that it was dead in the water: the script is being finalized.

A Baz fansite on the film.

leonardo dicaprio is possibly the only choice for this role worse than colin farrell

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

This is why it must be filmed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys are teh lame, I thoroughly heart Baz Luhrman (or, at least, teh movies he makes). I don't want him to shoot no Alexander though, especially with Mr. I'm King Of The World himself.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I read this project had been scrapped?

Leon the Fratboy (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

As I noted above. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i would be VERY surprised if, considering Stone's magnificent nosedive of a movie, this didn't go right back to Dead In The Water status as soon as box office receipts came in yesterday.

henry jones, jr (henry jones, jr), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Same here. There's yet ANOTHER movie being planned by the Salkinds, though.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

DiCaprio is seriously one of the most consistently miscast leading men ever but they should make this anyway (ESPECIALLY right after the Stone version bombs).

jones (actual), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Only Baz can redeem Alexander. Baz, you're our only hope!

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Tuesday, 30 November 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

two years pass...
It could still happen. From last November:

R - Just finally. Yes or no answer. Alexander the Great - is it still a work in progress?

B - You know what, I worked on that, producing with Dino De Laurentiis and Steven Spielberg. No one's ever read the script that I worked on with David Hare. There was a studio built in Northern Africa by Dino waiting to put Alexander in. And my dream is that one day I will make that film.

Fear.

He should hire exact same cast of R&J. He's got one down already.

I like the Luhrman too, it has made me kind of a film pariah tho. That and '1776' and insisting 'Shock Treatment' is better than Rocky Horror.

Abbott, Friday, 16 March 2007 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

Baz Luhrmann can eat a dick straight up . Tho clearly that's not a punishment.
