"Tom" on MySpace

Has anyone met Tom? The Tom? He seems to set up these pimped out net parties all over the U.S. Is he the pimp that people make him out to be? Does he take long walks on the L.A. beaches? What's his favorite Thai restaurant? Does he prefer OK Computer or Amnesia? We're all dying to know.

(for the record, I also have "Evil Tom" has a friend, so I'm neutral here)

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 19:58 (twenty-one years ago)

i want to de-friendster him.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, he is de-friendster-ed by definition!

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

surely he is a total douchebag.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

But he makes myspace work properly! He is redeemed instantly of any douchebaggery simply through being the guy that fixes it.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I see him at the 3rd St. Promenade frequently. He likes to order the Thai Chicken pizza at CPK and he has a breakdancing routine that is unstoppable. He practically dances the change right out of your pockets.

I'm serious ... Ti-i-i-i-im (deangulberry), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I know Tom.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

OK dude...

MySpencer.com

EVERYONE migrate there. Spencer, you have to.

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

That said, I don't dislike Tom at all! It's an interesting move to put oneself as "the guy" in everyone's friends list, and I don't think he's doing it just to be more popular or score or anything. It must be a pain in the ass, actually, given how malicious some people are in spamming the guy most likely.

It does seem he doesn't get to travel much (for obvious reasons), as the one time he set up his first MySpace party in Seattle in the middle of summer, he posted a message saying "What's with this sun setting at 9pm thing? This is totally weird!".

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

iooooh ooooh I'm gonna get you nerds!!! oooh oooh

TITS.JPG (ex machina), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i know he's technically de-friendstered but saying de-myspaced sounds stupid.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i edited out of myfriends immediately. i like my friends to be a little less invasive.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

One of our friends is bummed out because Tom inexplicably took himself off her list of friends. No warning, nothing. One day, Tom was gone.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Tom hates marmite.

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

gyg, Tom can still invade your account, friend or not. He made the site. In fact, maybe he has *more* reason to invade your account now. Way to go, gygax. The Tomafia is pissed.

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, his horrible taste in music pervaded those featured band crap before the REAL artists started ponying up REAL $$$ to get featured.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

(btw, my marmite comment could be horribly misinterpreted, and i do take it back for that reason.)

donut christ (donut), Wednesday, 1 December 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Sometimes he looks cut in pictures, but then he always goes back to that geeky looking one.

Spencer, you keep hinting at seemingly nefarious net connections. Spill.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Thursday, 2 December 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

cut?

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 2 December 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I think Missery has far more nefarious connections to "Tom" than Spencer has.

donut christ (donut), Thursday, 2 December 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

*whistles*

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Thursday, 2 December 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I once sent him a message asking "Tom, does myspace get you a lot of play?"

and he responded:

"Sure does ; )"

Say what you will.

LORD OF ALL THINGS HOMOELECTRONIC (trigonalmayhem), Thursday, 2 December 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

now I want to meet Tom.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Thursday, 2 December 2004 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

and hump him, I bet

LORD OF ALL THINGS HOMOELECTRONIC (trigonalmayhem), Thursday, 2 December 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Does he prefer OK Computer or Amnesia?

Insert joke about prefering to forget about crap albums here whilst simultaneously mocking mispelled album title.

Donut, it's Vegemite. Vegemite.

moley, Monday, 12 September 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Why do you think I apologized upthread?

Although I'm glad the anxiety building over the past nine months about that comment is finally resolved!

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:33 (twenty years ago)

Is myspace down for members?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

moley have you nearly cleared your responses backlog or is there still a way to go?

xpost

estela (estela), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:34 (twenty years ago)

Is myspace down for members?

myspace is down due to the blackout.

Myspace Tom, Monday, 12 September 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

I believe myspace is a victim of the LA blackout.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

Kind of funny that NewsCorp can't keep Myspace up but DirectNic survived Katrina....

Fushigina Blobby: Blobania no Kiki (ex machina), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh, sure, now it's NewsCorp's fault. Don't you know all the auxiliary generators power TV Guide?

Remember when someone circulated a chain letter on the site's bulletin boards saying Tom molested a woman after a drunken myspace meetup?

scrimhaw1837 (son_of_scrimshaw), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:48 (twenty years ago)

The sale is actually not complete (but it will be soon).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:52 (twenty years ago)

tom met his wife at board.crecial.org!

huell howser (chaki), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

Anderson was replaced as president in April 2009 by News Corp;[15] by 2010, he was no longer the default friend on Myspace, and was replaced by a profile called "Today On MySpace," or "T.O.M."[16]
