Does anyone know why firefox and IE don't seem to render em tont sizes the same?

fuck different browsers. i'm doing a center aligned site all in css. in safari, it looks fine, but in mozilla, when there are scroll bars (only when there are scroll bars) it shifts everything over 1px and fucks up the clean lines

I agree that browsers that support CSS differently is a shitty thing to have to deal with, but there you go.

BTW, apple people: I know you think Safari is the greatest thing ever because apple made it, but Firefox is more standards-compliant, strictly-speaking.

I never have any problems b/w safari and firefox, oddly. it's getting shit to work in IE on the Mac that pisses me off.

They all have quirks, really. I usually live with a Safari quirk if it comes down to that, since it has the smallest market share.

IE6/Mac is fine. IE5/Mac has some CSS2 issues.

None of them are bad browsers, necessarily.

You shouldn't design websites with absolute text sizes, what if someone who has bad sight wants to look at yr site, they need the text bigger. Also yr never going to get it looking right in lynx/links. All this may be irrelevant if you're just dicking around, but it's something to remember. If my granny wants to look at yr site, she'd be fucked.
