You are supposed to register, but you can register with one which is easy for you to get to, look: http://www.nhs.uk/england/doctors/doineedtoregister.cmsx

You can find one using one of the searches here, according to what you want: http://www.nhs.uk/england/doctors/default.aspx

When you've found one which sounds OK,, call them and ask to register, and maybe ask for an appointment, or both. I guess you know whether you need an appointment at the moment, or not.

Go to nhs.gov.uk and find your nearest doctor(s). Ring them up and ask if you can be registered. They will probably ask you where you live and if you're in their catchment area and not full, they will most likely book you an appointment to be registered. Then you go along to the appointment, fill in a form and/or talk to the doctor/nurse. And there you are.

You'll only be allowed to register at the ones closest to where you live, which is not to say the practice that is most convenient for you. Grrr.

if only this could be a London Doctors - S/D thread, but there's probably a law against it or something
