Do ya? Do ya? Eh eh? Does it look Christmassy? Yeah? Is it falling right this second? God, I'm like a puppy! I'm gonna pee with excitement!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:51 (twenty years ago)

Blimey, is it a year since last year's "Snow Patrol" thread?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:51 (twenty years ago)

There is snow. And ice. A little bit ago, the sun came out and shined down on this big woody lot across the street, all the frozen trees looked like diamonds in the sunlight.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:53 (twenty years ago)

It snowed last night, it didn't stick too much, but there are little spots of snow here and there, especially on top of parked cars.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:54 (twenty years ago)

We have no snow, and I bet we don't get teh snow till April.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:55 (twenty years ago)

No, that was sarted Jan 27th this year...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:57 (twenty years ago)

My sister had snow in dallas yesterday! Two days after telling me how mild it was, and a day after she was standing next to her friend's swimming pool in just a t-shirt!

Vicky (Vicky), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:58 (twenty years ago)

We only have rain here! boo for rain!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 23 December 2004 15:59 (twenty years ago)

We are forecast snow for tomorrow and saturday "With possibility of severe disruption" Yay!

Rumpty Pum pum pum, Thursday, 23 December 2004 16:06 (twenty years ago)

no snow in st louis but boy is it cold! my building's fire alarm went off last night (we have a lot of false alarms, I dunno what's up) and sent us all out at 3 in the morning. :(

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 23 December 2004 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Has it ever. TONS of snow. Woohoo.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 23 December 2004 17:05 (twenty years ago)

It snowed last night, it didn't stick too much, but there are little spots of snow here and there, especially on top of parked cars.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 23 December 2004 17:17 (twenty years ago)

No. We had a tiny bit of snow and then it RAINED and now it's all gone. It's okay, doesn't feel like Christmas in my house anyway.

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 23 December 2004 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Tons of snow? We have some snow covered in gross crusty freezing rain.
Last night when it was just snow it was lovely but now with the rain it's all ruined!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 23 December 2004 18:31 (twenty years ago)

No snow here, either, but ridiculously cold. It was 12 degrees when I got up this morning. Fortunately, I've been shopping out here in farming and hunting country, and these are the warmest clothes I've ever owned. This zipper hoodie is warmer than most coats -- ferreal.

Kenan, Thursday, 23 December 2004 18:35 (twenty years ago)

No snow.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 23 December 2004 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Sun.

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 23 December 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago)

Not snowing now but we got 14" between Tuesday morning and this morning. Of course my snow blower picked today to take a vacation day. By the time I beat it into submission I'd already given up and shoveled most of it.

Jeff Wright (JeffW1858), Friday, 24 December 2004 02:23 (twenty years ago)

Yes, yes, yes, yes... but now it's pouring sideways outside. We're all gonna die.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 24 December 2004 02:25 (twenty years ago)

We got about two inches yesterday in the EDT. You can still see bits of white here and there. still cold as a witch's tit though.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Friday, 24 December 2004 02:37 (twenty years ago)

wasn't that snowy when i went to sleep last night, woke up to an eastern michigan arctic pleasureland. had to shovel my car out of the driveway to get out. grandma had drifts of up to 16 inches. over here in kalamazoo not as much snow, but a load now.

very white, very pretty, although a little unfun to drive in.

wish it'd warm up, though. hear it's supposed to be 8 tomorrow. boo.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 24 December 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago)

no. it's currently about 32 degrees celsius here. forecast maximum for tomorrow 35 degrees. mmmmmm roast turkey in sweltering heat, my favourite

gem (trisk), Friday, 24 December 2004 03:06 (twenty years ago)

Big time snow and freezing rain. Yay.

cybele (cybele), Friday, 24 December 2004 05:01 (twenty years ago)

It's freezing cold here. Almost unseasonably so, actually; I think at this time of year, our highs are usually in the 50s, with nighttime lows (that sounds redundant, hm) in the 30s. But we've actually been stuck with highs in the 30s for the past few days, which is odd, though very conducive to drinking lots and lots of yummy, rich, and SO not-good-for-you mocha. Oh, and dragging out the sweaters I purchased back in mid September, not really expecting to use them until maybe mid-January or so, and actually USING them this early in the season is pretty good. Though I kinda wish I owned a pair of gloves.

I've heard about the snow in Dallas! Oh man. And the Hill Country area is expected to get a bit of accumulation either tonight or tomorrow night as well. I don't know if we ourselves are expecting any snow flurries in the next 24 - 36 hours, but if we do get a little sprinkling of the white stuff, I will be quite pleasantly surprised.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 24 December 2004 07:14 (twenty years ago)

The raindrops are getting gloopy in Glasgow. It will snow soon.
Try Glasgow snow.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 24 December 2004 12:12 (twenty years ago)

Was much snowy-er here two days ago...
Now it's getting sorta warmer, and the rather moderate remnants of snow left on the ground stoically do their damnedest best to cling to their dregs of respectability. Or samthung.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Friday, 24 December 2004 13:19 (twenty years ago)

NO SNOW! And it's VERMONT. Where the hell is my "white christmas"?

It was -10F Monday and +55F yesterday. I hate this state sometimes...

jay blanchard (jay blanchard), Friday, 24 December 2004 13:47 (twenty years ago)

North Troy has a little, but not enough to go around after that stupid rain on Thursday. Otherwise I'd send ya some, Jay. But you're welcome to stop by and try to negotiate my driveway without landing on yer ass.

jim wentworth (wench), Saturday, 25 December 2004 03:19 (twenty years ago)

I saw on the 10 p.m. news that LAREDO and certain parts of the area south and east of the city were receiving accumulations of up to 3". DUDE, GUYS, LAREDO GOT SNOW. The little kids there will SO be talking about this event for YEARS on end.

We just got tons and tons of icy cold weather. Well, "icy cold", really -- a lot of you would consider it super-warm weather, but you have to remember that we were still wearing short-sleeved tops at the beginning of December. By the middle of next week, though, we'll be back in the 60s. No wonder so many of us suffer from colds and coughs.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 25 December 2004 08:53 (twenty years ago)

No snow, but the sky at night is fantastic.

youn, Saturday, 25 December 2004 09:35 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
Holy shit I've just looked outside at 6AM and it's snowing in north London.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 05:50 (twenty years ago)

Of course, by the time I woke up again at 10AM it had all fucking gone, hadn't it?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

There was, I'm told, several flakes of snow in North Hull at lunchtime. Of course, I saw none of it, as I was stuck in East Hull all day.

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 18 January 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
More snow!

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Monday, 21 February 2005 01:57 (twenty years ago)

We had snow at about 3am. Then it turned to rain. Blech.

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

We're due for approx five inches of snow this evening (overnight) here in NYC...tho' it is supposed to turn to rain by morning. (boo hiss)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

do you think you could use "snow turned to rain" as a metaphor for something or other?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

We've got the 5 inches already, and the (freezing) rain is
a- startin'.
Forget my uzi, this snow weighs a ton!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

I haven't seen bare ground around here since before Christmas. But then I live next door to a major ski area. Yesterday and today were perfect winter out-door days.

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 21 February 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

I had three plates of Chinese food, and then I attempted to shovel. Boy, was I voice-boxin'!

peepee (peepee), Monday, 21 February 2005 03:01 (twenty years ago)

Well yeah. Flapjacks. Now there's shovelin' food.

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 21 February 2005 03:16 (twenty years ago)

it is STICKING

gabbneb (gabbneb), Monday, 21 February 2005 03:27 (twenty years ago)

It snows here in Hokkaido every day. Every single blizzarding day. This is the whitest winter they've had in twenty years. But on Wednesday I fly to Tokyo, where the weather forecast tells me it's going to be 15 centigrade (60 farenheit). Something weird is going on with the weather, and I blame President Bush.

Momus (Momus), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:39 (twenty years ago)

Fish fingers all in a line (kenan), Monday, 21 February 2005 05:54 (twenty years ago)

We had a lot of snow (for here) yesterday - a couple of inches or so. By afternoon it was sleeting, and although more snow fell overnight, it's now all patchy and half-melted.

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 21 February 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

It was sunny and around 70F here in Seattle... you guys are more than free to visit here if you want a break... we be friendly.

Allyzay Dallas Multi-Pass (allyzay), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 04:51 (twenty years ago)

SO MUCH.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 05:58 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...
I'm sorry, but I'm VERY excited.

Who here likes driving in the snow? I know most people hate it but my partner and I both love it. We love the challenge, the country roads, and the peace and quiet of the roads when everybody else is huddled up at home.

And driving in the snow at night is like flying through space!

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:18 (eighteen years ago)

you have snow right now?

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:49 (eighteen years ago)

Aren't you already supposed to have snow up there at the moment?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:50 (eighteen years ago)

It was snowing in the centre of Edinburgh when i came in about 20 minutes ago but seems to have reverted back to rain.

leigh (leigh), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:55 (eighteen years ago)

No, we're about toi have a storm here.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 18 January 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)

It's heavy here, some roads have been closed and there's been a few accidents already.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Thursday, 18 January 2007 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

i fucking hate snow.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:17 (eighteen years ago)

"Informer" was a pretty bad record, it has to be said.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:19 (eighteen years ago)

I don't disagree with that.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:20 (eighteen years ago)

We've been iced in in Texas for a few days; today is the first day since Monday that I'm reporting in to work and the first time since the time I came home that afternoon that I'm actually leaving the house. If this kind of unusual weather pattern had hit the Northeast all the national news media would've been all over that story, but nooooo, those punk-assed fuckers buried that story and dedicated maybe three whole minutes to it. Shitheads. Anyway, off to work now.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:51 (eighteen years ago)

God, I miss snow. Maybe I should move to Scotland or something.

The Long Grey And Overcast Tea Time Of The Soul (kate), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:53 (eighteen years ago)

Dee, when I was in the States over Xmas the fact it was cold in Texas was all over the news! Well, the Weather Channel news, anyway.

You're feisty today btw :)

=== temporary username === (Mark C), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:54 (eighteen years ago)

i never see snow where i live anymore, and it saddens me. This year i've even yet to see any ice.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:56 (eighteen years ago)

It's snowing again but the ground's too wet for it to lie on. I don't mind fresh powdery snow but hate when it turns to slush or solid ice.

leigh (leigh), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:57 (eighteen years ago)

This has been the warmest winter I can remember in Finland. There's been a few occasions when it has snowed, but the snow has melted away in a couple of days. There's still some green grass on the ground, and some plants have started to bloom, thinking it's spring already. Freaky!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 18 January 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

There's allegedly a cold snap on its way here at the beginning of next week but I'm sceptical about whether this will yield much more than occasional sleet in London, as per last winter.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 18 January 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

marcello, i now have that song stuck in my head. grr.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 18 January 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

I think Informer's great.

chap (chap), Thursday, 18 January 2007 13:06 (eighteen years ago)

like Dee this is my first time out of the house since Sat. I think. (except for a dog walk.) I cracked my ID scraping an inch of ice off the car this morning!

personally I don't care if the national news talks about Texas. Secede!

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 18 January 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

We've had it in portland for 2-3 days now. Tuesday shut down most of the city, and caused me to take 2 hours to get to work. Yesterday was a snow day for plenty of people, but it seems to be meltings by today.

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 18 January 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yes, the Texas ice scraper! I saw a woman using a small hairbrush to crack the ice. Last time we were in NY I went to the supermarket and bought out their whole collection of scrapers. These were presented as gifts to bemused Texan friends, but I'll bet they were happy to have them yesterday!

The ice is dropping of the magnolia leaves and making quite a racket.

I have a flight that's been eaten by the snow. The incoming aircraft can't take off from EWR, so we're stuck at the moment. Crap.

lyra, Monday, 19 January 2009 22:17 (sixteen years ago)

We have snow, but it's turning to rain now. Bah.

ailsa, Monday, 19 January 2009 22:28 (sixteen years ago)

Can I note that I STILL am waiting for an airplane? I love trying to fly into the NYC area in crappy weather.

lyra, Tuesday, 20 January 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

We had teeny, tiny flurries last week. This week it's going to be in the 60. Such bullshit. The only thing that has stuck this year is ice.

toasty warm (relative) in MN, big puffy silly snow. i support this recent turn of events.

non-ironic safety helmet wearer (John Justen), Tuesday, 20 January 2009 04:01 (sixteen years ago)

Well, my supposed arrival time yesterday was 6 PM, actual arrival time was 1 PM. EWR was hopping when we finally got off the plane, tons of people coming in late. The drive home in the snow was pretty at least.

How is the snow in NC? Did you get a few inches?

lyra, Tuesday, 20 January 2009 22:42 (sixteen years ago)

Make that "actual arrival time was 1 AM". :P
