The Nutcracker

Maria (Maria), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:43 (twenty years ago)

It's a Wonderful Life. Makes me cry every time I see it.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:46 (twenty years ago)

The Office finale was very good, but nothing will ever touch the Father Ted Christmas special. It sustained itself over the hour and provided several of the greatest moments in the show's history.
The priests in the lingerie section, Father Todd Unctious's Mission Impossible manouvre and backstory, the Dervla Kirwan business, Ted's bitchy acceptance speech for Priest of The Year. Genius, pure unadulterated genius.

Charlie Brown Christmas. If you're of a certain age, Vince Girauldi Trio is burned into your brane as prime christmas music

kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 25 December 2004 01:16 (twenty years ago)

The Muppet one where they find the Fraggles in the basement and the Swedish chef tries to eat Big Bird.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Saturday, 25 December 2004 01:36 (twenty years ago)

They're showing Xmas videos on VH1 Classic right now and I think I see the Chipmunks cavorting with Santa Claus. (Fortunately I have the TV muted and am listening to Bohren and Der Club of Gore.)

That didn't answer the question, did it.

I Am Curious (George) (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 25 December 2004 01:39 (twenty years ago)

Jon Solomon's 24 Hour Christmas Show

this.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Saturday, 25 December 2004 02:36 (twenty years ago)

the Beavis and Butthead one

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 25 December 2004 02:37 (twenty years ago)

The best story is A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote, but it should not be made for television.

The Muppet one where they find the Fraggles in the basement and the Swedish chef tries to eat Big Bird.

Seconded. This is really the big one when if comes to oft-quoted lines between my sisters and I.

"Look what I've got... Christmas cookies!" (even more hilarious when all you're holding is, for instance, a student loan bill or something)

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 25 December 2004 06:10 (twenty years ago)

A YEAR W/T A SANTA CLAUS ... IT'S ALL ABOUT HEAT MISER AND SNOW MISER OMGWTF IS WRONG W/ YOU PEOPLE?!?!?

Truth be told, I get as excited about 24 hours of Christmas Story on TBS now as I did about presents as a child.

Hey, this is kinda weird! Check out my three favourites:

1. A Charlie Brown Xmas
2. Dr. Seuss' "How The Grinch Stole Xmas" (Directed by Charles M. Jones)
3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Classic moment = "Nobody wants a 'Charlie-In-The-Box!")

Weird.

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 8 December 2008 09:38 (sixteen years ago)

There's one (and I can't ever remember the name) where it's a 70's cartoon, there's aliens on earth, and they all have to hold hands and stand on a frozen pond to save some child from falling through cracks in the ice. Can anyone recognize it from this description? Hope so. I'd like to see it again.

Nate Carson, Monday, 8 December 2008 10:44 (sixteen years ago)

We watched Fat Albert's Christmas Special (1977) last night. Never saw it as a kid.

I know I'm probably a little too free and easy in utilizing '_______ is the The Room of _______' as a descriptor, but if you haven't yet had the 'pleasure' here for your 'enjoyment' is perhaps one of the worst things that exists.

The descriptor seems particularly apropos in this case inasmuch as my family has enjoyed both We Wish You a Turtle Christmas and The Room during our holiday time together. See also: mainlining entire seasons of The Eric Andre Show. I have a weird family. Quelle surprise, I know.
