What are your most commonly worn and/or favorite fashion accessories?

Scarf, buttons, crap dog-collary thing worn as bracelet. I apologize.

The sweatervest is a good ol' friend of mine.

For me: scarf (either green plaid or bright green, orange, and yellow stripes), toque (solid gray), occasionally glasses (which I'm counting as an accessory because typically I wear contacts but sometimes I'm just in a glasses mood).

Come to think of it I'm not really sure what the line is on "accessories." Many things described as "accessories" for women are not described as such for men, theoretically because the very word "accessories" is kind of pitched as a feminine idea. Hence purse = "accessory" and shoulder bag = "fuck you I am manly man carrying important manly things look at my balls LOOK AT THEM?"

I don't have one, but I like those wide short ties. Ties as belts, but maybe not anymore since they are being made that way.

I wear dangly earrings a lot, and scarves (both the woolly kind and the silky kind), and NEVER rings or bracelets or anything like that, oh and I ALWAYS wear a jacket with some sort of goofy indie badge on the pocket, which makes me dumb.

I wish I was more comfortable with wearing ties as casual accessories, but they make me feel like I'm playing dress-up. But when I see pictures of myself wearing a tie, I'm like, damn, I'm hot. So maybe I should just get over it.

I have a black leather bracelet with two plain silver snaps that I bought near 30th St just minutes before going to my first "band practice" in 15 years// it was also my last. I still wear the bracelet though. I got it from "The Belt Man" who rolled his eyes when I asked for it. He was like "nobody buys the belts anymore. Just these things."

I tend to eschew accessories. I don't own a watch or any kind of jewelry (including rings). I just can't imagine keeping that stuff on your person all the time. I guess you get used to it. I am, however, a fan of the indoor scarf. And I would love to have my black velvet jacket tailored (the pockets ripped) in time for spring.

Phil, you and Felicity have the same hat from Anna Sui. Except hers is pink.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

how funny! i almost bought the pink one but i thought it might be too gay.

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Some man working at Bergdorf's told her the hat was fabulous but then seemed disappointed when she said it was from Anna Sui.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 23:25 (twenty-one years ago)

what a fag. my hat is into the store for repairs since the string keeps breaking. they're making me a new one for free. did you find any good deals on xmas?

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 28 December 2004 23:29 (twenty-one years ago)

This year was a bust. All the sizes were picked over the day before Xmas and the day after Xmas it looked like a hurricane hit Saks and Barneys. Felicity got some beautiful Dior boots, I talked her out of a pair of Sigerson Morrison boots. I think I am the only person alive who thinks Sigerson Morrison shoes are way overrated. Prada has stuff half off again and they had a purse at Barneys but they only had it in olive and a weird dark plum. So I think I am going to take my purse to the Prada store to get the strap fixed, which also keeps unsnapping on me. I think Barney's does their final markdown either the day before New Years or the day after, before it goes to the warehouse sale.

at a local clothing designer show deal i bought a great scarf cut from some gray industrial blanket; it has a human heart stenciled on one end.
