I keep telling myself to get more sleep and then I stay up 'til midnite anyway...

Every morning I swear I'll start going to bed at 10pm but I invariably stay up much later, drinking beer and looking at catalogs. On the weekends I'll stay up til three and then sleep til noon, not getting out of the house until two in the afternoon, and pretty much blowing any chance for my Saturday to be meaningful.

Those guys on Real People that sleep a half-hour a day... were they taking ketamine or something? How do they do it?

Catalogs?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 18:47 (twenty years ago)

"Catalogs?"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 18:49 (twenty years ago)

12pm is a respectable bedtime surely? I find it hard to put myself to bed before 2am generally and always regret it in the morning.

what dog latin said. if i'd have started this thread (as i well might have) it would say "3 am" in place of midnight.

yeah, if I could get to bed at midnight, my problems would be over.

Pears can just fuck right off. (kenan), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 18:56 (twenty years ago)

With no further word from Andy ('bout them "catalogs"), must it be concluded that he has fallen asleep all of a sudden?

Last night I got to bed before 1 AM! Yay, I didn't fall asleep on the train this morning.

During the Christmas break my daughter's waking hours have been roughly 2 p.m. to 7 a.m. I hear her getting ready to go to bed about the time I'm waking up for the day.

your worried about reading catalogues after 10 pm?

what are you, nine?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 19:15 (twenty years ago)

sorry that sounded mean. i think it's nice

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 19:17 (twenty years ago)

If I'm home in my cozy apartment, I can't stay awake past 10.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Wednesday, 29 December 2004 19:18 (twenty years ago)

God, I go to bed at like 10:30 every night. I am so square.

You would think the beer drinking would make me drowsy, but instead it makes me all Johnny Paycheck ornery... "This is MY time," etc.

The Catalogues? Mmm, Cabelas, LL Bean, The Last Whole Earth, whatever's on the floor nearest me.

andy, Wednesday, 29 December 2004 19:46 (twenty years ago)

What the hell is there to get up early for anyway?

Hurting (Hurting), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:14 (twenty years ago)

I used to get more things done before noon than anyone, then I got my priorities right and, yeah, 2-3 a.m. is where I'm at these days. Nighttime is so beautiful.

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 30 December 2004 05:38 (twenty years ago)

Due to my inability to break with habits formed throughout the school year, I can't go to sleep until, at the earliest, 2 a.m. Even then, I sorta consider 2 a.m. to be "early". Like, I can stay up until 4 a.m. and still be able to get up at, like, 7 - 8 a.m. In fact, I never sleep in. The latest time I will wake up is 10 a.m., because of patterns I picked up via Mom's influence.

(I consider six hours' sleep to be a lot of sleep, though.)

I generally go to bed between half ten and half eleven, then read for about forty minutes.

Even if I'm not working the next day I like to be abed no later than one. Back in my chemically assisted days I wasn't sleeping till the sun came up, but now I cherish sleep as one of the best, uncomplicated pleasures in my life.

Bed 12.15, sleep 1, awake 8.10 - pretty reliable timings for me during the week.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 30 December 2004 13:01 (twenty years ago)

Midnight would be pretty optimal to me because then supposedly I could get up at 8, but this week I've been getting ten or eleven hours of sleep. So unnecessary! Aaargh!

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 30 December 2004 17:34 (twenty years ago)

I'm rarely asleep before 2 any night. But I never work before noon.

Haha.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 30 December 2004 17:48 (twenty years ago)

I was up until 3 last night! This isn't good. I woke up at 8:15, after snooze-barring it for 45 mins.
