I'm liking it so far and i don't usually like such clever & whimsical type books.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 30 December 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Great writing but heavy-handed, didactic ending.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 30 December 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

NO SPOILERS!

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 30 December 2004 19:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Good story but the author is a moron.

RS LaRue (rockist_scientist), Thursday, 30 December 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Fritz, did you really think I was going to tell you the part about the spaceships and the sexbots at the end?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 30 December 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I SAID NO SPOILERS!!!

HA hA HA HA HA, I made the joke you were all afraid to!

Huk-L, Thursday, 30 December 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, that's my line

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 December 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I was pissed to find out it wasn't about math.
So I'll never read it.

LORD OF ALL THINGS HOMOELECTRONIC (trigonalmayhem), Thursday, 30 December 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved this book. It was just.......nice. And strangely credible. My mum enjoyed it too.

Rumpington Lane, Friday, 31 December 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

does it get more interesting as i goes on? i got to about page 50 and got really bored and stopped reading. twice.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 31 December 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It DOES improve, Ken. I had the same initial reaction, but once things get afloat (as it were) I read the rest of it in one sitting. The last section does overdo the Swiftian side of things a bit, but the author's final point is elegantly made. Not a stone-cold classic, but certainly no dud.

one year passes...
Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Very Long Engagement, Delicatessen) is directing the theatrical adaptation of Life of Pi. Could be interesting.

darin (darin), Thursday, 19 January 2006 21:22 (twenty years ago)

How is this going to be interesting? All I remember about the book was him being on a raft for like 200 pages. And the horrible bit with the teeth.

Cathy (Cathy), Thursday, 19 January 2006 21:45 (twenty years ago)

Audrey Tatou will play the tiger.

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Thursday, 19 January 2006 21:49 (twenty years ago)

Tautou, people. Tautou. Pronounced 'towtoo'. Sheesh!

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 19 January 2006 21:51 (twenty years ago)

Call me crazy, but I think an orangoutang/hyena fight on the big screen would be awesome.

darin (darin), Thursday, 19 January 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

you're crazy

Matt (Matt), Friday, 20 January 2006 00:50 (twenty years ago)

Tatu

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Friday, 20 January 2006 00:56 (twenty years ago)

The only book I'ver read twice in ten minutes! Changed my mind about zoos!

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Friday, 20 January 2006 11:56 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I just noticed after my pithy and glib contribution, just this morning I learnt how to pronounce Andrey Towtou's name on a French podclass on my way to work, and just a short while ago I was reading about Ned Raggett's Pi album!

Mebbe I should write a book about it.
