I just got back from a party with almost all my best friends, at which I had a great time. I hope all the Brits had as great a time, and I guess the Australian/NZ contingent too, unless I am confused and they should be included in the next bit - which is that I hope all the Americans are just starting to have a great time.

It's 3:21 in the morning and I've just now settled into my bedroom. We arrived home at approximately 2:53. My head is still slightly floaty from the one (!) glass of sangria I ended up drinking. I ate a TON of food (but, in all fairness, that constituted both lunch and dinner). I shouted over loud music and lots of kids screaming in order to be heard by people sitting less than five feet away from me. I struggled in an attempt to get clear reception for the local countdown, but, alas, I know very little about how to work with rabbit ears. I recorded the NBC thing with, well, You Know Who (they were on Carson Daly's thing) and am currently watching the tape rewind (I don't want to miss a thing). I'm hoping to have an easy time of things when I wake up... uh... well... um... I'd have to go to bed first, won't I? Hm.

(Wow. I can't believe I've experienced a whole calendar year here. In four months' time, I will have been here TWO years. Damn. I initially thought my run would last only a couple of months. Well, I guess that settles it -- you're stuck with me.)

I have at ton of things to be grateful for, but I will not be sorry to put 2018 behind me. The odds of 2019 being an improvement for my family seem very solid atm. As for the wide world, I can only wish it well, but I have little control over its future. Here's hoping for the best for all ilxors and beyond.
